A MISTAKE

"Will you stop with this nonsense; we need to practice for the competition."Jimin's words echoed through the hallway as Naomi had passed him for the fifth time that day, without sparing him a second glance. Every time her eyes spotted him, she would leave the room as if her hair was on fire.
And although Jimin was known as a very patient person, there was a limit to everything - even to his patience. He wouldn't care if Naomi had avoided him in other circumstances, but when it came to practice, he wasn't planning to just stand back and wait for her to come to him. And knowing the kind of person she was, he was sure that he had to wait for a long time for her to come around.
His friend Hoseok was beside him and was hopelessly trying to suppress his giggles, mocking him about Naomi's behavior.
"Ask Mia to give me her number, this madness needs to stop."
Jimin spoke bitterly while leaving his books in the locker and taking the ones he needed for the last period. After school he was planning to go to practice even if he had to drag Naomi there.
It was not like he fancied the idea of being teamed with her that much, although he had to admit that she was an amazing dancer, he just had no other choice but to try and cope with her.
And knowing Ms. Sung, there was no chance in changing the teams now, so he decided to get the best out of the whole mess.
"As you wish, just don't let her hurt you ... too much."
Jimin knew that there was no ending to Hoseok's joking, until he was in good terms with Naomi, which could take forever. He and Naomi were famous for their quarrels and he had no idea how they were going to overcome their differences for the competition. Maybe their love for dancing would be the solution. Not maybe - it had to be, at least for now.
"Here, Mia just texted me Naomi's number. And it came with, how to say it... a kind suggestion."
Hoseok gave his phone to Jimin, so he could read the suggestion his girlfriend had for his best friend. At this point, he could no longer stay serious and had burst into laughter.
"If you bother my best friend in any way, I'll cut your..."
Jimin didn't get to read the rest of Mia's threats because he had another more important thing to do. He dialed Naomi's number right away, and had to wait a few rings before she answered.
"Be in the basement studios after school for practice! Don't even plan on ditching because I'll come and find you."
He spoke fast as soon as she connected the call, and ended it before she could say a single word or protest. But it was not like that one ended call could stop her.

"Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?"
Naomi shouted even from the door of the dance studio. It was obvious that she was in no mood for 'hellos', considering the huge amount of anger written all over her face.
If it was any other day Jimin would be glad to argue with her about her attitude, but he decided to be the bigger person between them. So instead of bickering with her, he spoke calmly knowing that it would annoy her even more.
"Your dance partner, now go change so we can finally start. You know that we are way behind the other teams. I'm not going to lose this competition because of you."
He said turning to face the mirrors and started to warm up, leaving Naomi irritated and slightly confused.
"Fine, but you are going to regret it."
Planning a vengeance in her master mind, Naomi turned towards the changing room. Five minutes later, they were standing in front of the wall of mirrors, deciding on a choreography with which they would start. Both wanted to lead the practice which was the biggest problem in the first place. You don't put two leaders in one team and expect everything to be good. It was bound for them to not agree with each other.
But surprisingly after fifteen minutes of dancing, they somehow managed to find a mutual agreement. Their dance turned into a routine, as if they had danced together since forever.
The tension was no longer present. Naomi and Jimin danced like never before, more comfortable and closer to each other. They were like two lost souls combined with one song. Two bodies connecting through one love - their love for dancing.
When the song ended, Naomi and Jimin finished in each other's embrace. Heavy breaths and drumming hearts from both of them, but neither had moved away. Maybe it was the pride that prevented them to do it, or maybe the reason was entirely different.
"This was a mistake."
Naomi somehow managed to catch her breath, while her eyes unconsciously moved from his chocolate ones to his upper mouth. He was so close to her that she could almost imagine the softness of his lips.
Jimin, on the other hand was already going out of his mind when he saw how she was biting and wetting her own lips while staring at his. The scene was more breathtaking than the practice they just had, causing him to lean even closer to her.
"A big one."
His whispers only affirmed that they were on the same station with their thoughts. But why neither of them moved away then? Why did they stay so close when they stated that they both hated it?
Those questions remained unanswered and unknown, just like the foreign feeling that was building inside them.
Naomi and Jimin continued to stare at each other like they were trying to read each other's souls. They remained unaware that someone was standing outside of the studio's door and was watching them.
