UNEXPECTED
____________________________
After lunch-break, Naomi went back to the classroom waiting for the start of yet another boring Math lesson. She thought many times of just ditching it, but in the end, decided to stay behind. Her mind was rather preoccupied with other things than how to plan an escape.
The events from a few days ago were pretty much all she was thinking about lately. That closeness with Jimin the other day woke something inside her, something that she didn't want to admit - not even to herself.
Every time they would cross paths in the hallways, or when he tagged along when Hoseok came to see Mia, their eyes would meet and that flame was still there. She could deny it if she wanted, but something was happening between them.
Speaking of Mia, she had left her with the excuse that she needed to talk to Hoseok about their dance routine, but Naomi was hundred percent sure that the truth was entirely different.
She wouldn't be surprised if the janitor had found them making out in some dark corner in the school, because that was exactly the thing they would be doing. But who could blame them, when that's all what it is about when you are young and in-love.
Seeing that she had another fifteen minutes before the beginning of the lesson and that there was no one back in the classroom, she decided to take a quick nap. Laying her head on the desk, she closed her eyes to get a little rest from her weird thoughts. Hoping it would help her chase her sworn enemy of her mind. With no luck there of course.
Then the most unexpected thing had happened to her - someone just pulled her hair. And it was not an accidental pull; it was one full-fisted and skull-hurting pull.
"What the hell?"
She shouted and turned to face the being that obviously had a death wish. It was a girl whose name Naomi couldn't remember, but she did remember her face. One year younger, in front of her was standing the same girl, she was always seeing with Jimin.
"What's your problem?"
Naomi came closer to the Blondie, piercing her with a frightening gaze. When she thought that her day wouldn't get any worse, this girl showed up.
"You are my problem. Do you think that now when you are his dance partner, you have some sort of ownership of him?"
The girl stood proudly in front of Naomi, even though she was a few inches shorter than her. Naomi looked at her confused. She was aware that the girl was talking about Jimin, who was her dance partner, but other than that she didn't know what she was saying.
"I have no idea what you are blabbing about right now. Let's go back to the moment when you randomly decided to pull my hair, do you not like your face the way it is? Cuz, I can change that for you."
Naomi started to roll up her sleeves. Finally, the karate lesson she took as a little girl would pay up for a good cause. She wasn't a girl who liked to fight; silencing her enemies with words only, but there was an exception to everything. And the girl in front of her was really asking for it.
"Don't play dumb with me. I saw you the other day when you were all over him. Jimin is mine."
"And she mentioned something about ownership. Poor Jimin, if she was his girlfriend", Naomi thought while inhaling and exhaling deeply, trying to calm her nerves. But the mare presence of this girl had her blood boiling, and that had nothing to do with the fact that she just pulled her hair.
She wanted to be the bigger person between them and just chase the girl away, but people were starting to round them to see what was happening. Come on, line up. The show is about to start. But the real show started when the girl decided that it was a good idea to pull Naomi's hair again.
"What the hell is going on in here? What are you doing?"
Mia had appeared out of nowhere, pushing-pass the crowd, while Hoseok and Jimin followed after her. She looked like she was there to save the day, but Naomi was sure that Mia just wanted to join the fight and throw some punch.
By the time Hoseok had pulled Naomi away from the girl, while the other was dragged by Jimin, the girl had already earned a black eye. But Naomi had to admit that she was holding up pretty well, considering the fact that she got a bloody lip.
The next unexpected thing that happened to Naomi that day was when Jimin had reached for her face. He held her chin up to have a better look at her lip, leaning closer in the process. His warm hand, marking a trail on her skin.
"Are you okay?"
He asked, not even sensing that the audience around them had stopped moving. Everyone was like waiting for him to make the next move. It was unusual for them to see Jimin and Naomi acting like that.
"I'm perfectly fine. Go to your girlfriend, she is worse."
Acting as if she wasn't fluttered, Naomi spoke bitterly and pushed his hand away. Her reaction caused him to flinch as if he just figured what he was doing.
"What are you talking about? Hanna is just my friend."
Confused, Jimin turned from her to Hanna. To Naomi's surprise, Hanna used that opportunity to clinch on him. She even started to fake cry.
"Jiminie, my eye... "
Naomi couldn't decide if she wanted to laugh at her or throw another punch to silence her whining and wipe that fakeness of her face. Because this girl was the opposite of the girl she saw a few moments ago.
"Listen to me - I'll never hesitate to fight, so take that black eyes as a warning and don't come near me with that accusation ever again."
She snapped furiously while grabbing her bag and with fast steps, she left the classroom.
The plan was set - she was definitely ditching Math today.
