"And that's tonight's homework," the lecturer says. Who knew getting a degree was so boring.
"(Y/n)? (Y/n)!" Caerlon shouts. "Time to go." I wake up from my daydreaming and snap back to reality.
I grab my books and shove them in my Game of Thrones bag before leaving the classroom.
"Daydreaming again?" Caerlon questions.
"Oh, yeah. I'd rather be anywhere than here." I'd chosen to study History because of the battles or but I'd always loved English when we did mythology because of the stories.
"Ha, same!" she laughs as she pulls her black coat out of her tiny locker. I smile with my bag slung over my shoulder. I put my Walking Dead hoodie over the top of my Green Day shirt and start walking towards the door. Today was when I could wear the black jeans and shoes I'd bought the night before.
The walk home is quiet once Caerlon walks up her drive. She lives closer to my university than I do, so I end up walking for about twenty minutes by myself afterwards. The university is in the same town that I grew up in, so I still live at home with my parents.
I always stop opposite this lake on the way home. It has an island with a tower in the middle of it, but there's no distinguishable way to even get close to it. There are stories that it's actually the Lake of Avalon where King Arthur is buried, but most people say they're just stories. I don't though. I was raised listening to stories of Arthur, Merlin and his knights every night before I went to sleep, and I've been reading books about it for years.
As I stop to look at the tower, I can see a strange glow come from behind it, almost like the sun is setting, but it's coming from the north so it's impossible. The sky gets slightly darker as if it's about to rain, so I put my phone in my pocket and start running back to avoid getting wet.
I burst through the door, breathless and run up to my room. I look out the window to see if it's raining but the sky has returned to the same pale blue as it was earlier. I shake my head and distract myself by getting on with an essay.
At dinner I don't tell anyone about what I saw incase they think I'm insane. If anything I just eat my food and go back upstairs to watch some TV. I flick through the channels, hoping to find something good to watch. I decide to watch Game of Thrones, not that I'm complaining, my phone in my hand incase someone decides to talk to me. I rest my head back on a pillow that rests against the head board of my bed and end up falling asleep.

I open my eyes and stand up, the sound of leaves rustling as I do so. Leaves rustling. It takes a moment to realise that I'm not sat on my bed anymore. I rub my eyes desperately, assuming that this is a dream. It has to be a dream. I look around and see where I was sat, my phone lying on the ground. I pick it up and switch it on. No service. I try to switch my data on. No data. I run around, seeing if I know where I am, but it's no use. I sit back down next to the tree, my head in my hands as try not to cry.
"Are you alright?" someone asks as they crouch beside me, their hand on my shoulder. His voice is kind as he pulls my head out of my lap.
I'm nearly crying. I look at him and his clothes and see they are very different to mine. He has a blue shirt covered up by a dark brown jacket and a red scarf around his neck. His dark hair is short and his eyes are a pale blue. He looks so different to me.
"I'm Merlin," he says kindly. This can't be happening. This is definitely a dream.
"I-I'm (Y/n). Is your name really Merlin?"
