The horses stopped as we reached the clearing in the forest, a guard walking forward to take the reins of my own white stallion. I dismounted and ran over to Arthur as he tied his horse to the branch of a tree.
"I told you, I'd find somewhere quiet," he said arrogantly.
"It's hardly that quiet," I replied, looking at the other knights walking around the camp.
"You know I can't go anywhere without someone following me," he reminded me as he placed his hand on my shoulder before sliding it down my arm.
"I know." I knew he was the king, but I couldn't help but be slightly pissed that we didn't anytime alone. Every time we had a minute, he would always get called away to attend to 'matters of state'. After a while, it tends to get annoying.
"Come with me," I ordered as I grabbed his arm and began to walk. One or two guards turned around, but not enough to cause a fuss.
"Why?"
"Just do it Arthur. And tell them not to follow." I waved my hand around to reference the men around us.
"You heard her - let us be."
The guards nodded and I continued to pull his arm before breaking out into a run through the forest, twigs breaking under every step. Arthur started to run to keep up with me too, and by the time he had caught up to me, he was breathless.
"How are you not dying?" He panted.
"Well, when you grew up on the streets, you learn to be quick. And besides, I'm not wearing armour."
"Why here?"
"It's quiet, we're alone, and I know how we won't be disturbed."
"Go on."
I lifted my arm up towards the waterfall to my left. The waters cascaded into a small pool of clear water, and behind the fall, there was a cave. A cave people didn't know about. A cave where we could commit all manner of sins.
"The waterfall?"
"Come with me."
"No, no. The last time you said that I became breathless. We are going at the same time this time."
I rolled my eyes and Arthur laughed. He held my hand and I lead him around the pool and through the water falling from the cliff above us.
Our hair became soaked as we walked into the cave, and immediately Arthur took off his chain mail. He laid it out on the side on top of a rock, his sword resting against the wall. He continued to take off clothing until he was just in his trousers.
"You can't expect me to get everything wet can you?" He laughed as he splashed water in my direction. There was still a pool behind the cave. It was deep enough to come up to my waist, but there was a flat piece of rock sticking out of the water right in the middle.
"And what about me, Pendragon? Do you expect me to get everything else wet?"
"Do you have no faith? I'd thought of that too."
He came up to me and began taking off my clothes until I was left in a shirt and trousers - both of which were already soaked through. Whilst he was vulnerable, I splashed water up his body, causing little droplets to stick to his chest.
"I am the king, you know!"
"I'm not threatening you."
"I'll make it a threat if I choose."
"And what will you do about it?"
"I'll have to punish you."
"And what will that involve?"
"That's for me to know and for you to find out."
He rested both hands on my shoulders and looked directly into my eyes. Suddenly, he placed one arm underneath my legs and picked me up. Arthur placed me down on the protruding piece of rock and made sure I was lying down. He kept a hand on my chest as he undid my trousers, quickly followed by his own.
I moved my legs apart and waited for my lover to place himself inside of me. I gasped as he did so, my heart racing as he began to move slowly. He began to speed up as I began to moan softly.
"Enjoying it?" Arthur whispered in my ear as I began to come due to the pleasure.
"Arthur," I murmured breathlessly, my hips arching as I moaned out again.
I could feel him becoming more and more tense between my legs, but suddenly, it all went away as he moaned too, his back arching slightly from his own pleasure. He began to laugh quietly as he rolled next to me, his hand still on my chest, but this time in comfort.
"I love you, Arthur."
"I love you too, darling." I pulled my trousers back up before jumping into the water to wash the sweat off of my body. After dipping my head underwater for a few seconds, Arthur soon followed suit. He submerged himself, then jumped to the surface shaking his head to remove any excess water.
We returned to the rock to lie next to each other again. I laid my head on the king's chest and closed my eyes. My breathing matched his as his chest slowly rose and fell rhythmically, and soon I feel asleep.
Le time skip
I was awoken to the sounds of shouting coming from the other side of the waterfall.
"I found them!" One voice shouted as it soared above the rest. He was answered with more shouting and suddenly, the appearance of guards this side of the fall.
"What did I say about not following us? I ordered you not to!" Arthur shouted as he began to sit up, forcing me to do the same. The men fell to their knees in respect for their king, but only one spoke.
"We know, Sire, but you have been gone for several hours and we became concerned for your welfare. Forgive us."
The anger of his face soon fell as he realised the loyalty of his men.
"Of course. Forgive me for shouting. I didn't know."
The men bowed and left us to put the remainder of our clothes on before returning to the party. Those few hours - those few stolen hours - meant the world to me.
They still do, even if I'm married to him.
