Chapter 10

Next day, I woke up about 7:30am and went about my morning routine of cleaning up and getting ready for school. I was being cautious while getting ready for school. I hoped to talk to Nina. Caleb told me to be myself but being a little fake won't hurt would it?

I wore a faded ripped jeans, a round neck shirt with a Jean jacket. I pulled on my boots and wore a perfume. I went down the stairs and saw mom serving breakfast. I greeted her with a kiss to the check as usual.
"Billy Wesley, you're out to impress? Quite unusual son", mom said after responding to my greeting.
I could only give a smile while I munched breakfast.

I walked to the bus stop and boarded a bus to school. As I walked in, I got the stares from the girls around. I was trying to get used to them. Sorry girls, I'm open to only one girl now.

I scanned with my eyes as I walked through for Nina but she was nowhere in sight. The bell thundered and I walked off to class. I decided to sit at the back hoping Nina would too.

Caleb walked in and came around the back to sit. We greeted each other and I whispered I wanted Nina to sit behind with me. He just smirked and got to another seat.

When Nina came, I flashed her a smile thinking she'd come and sit with me. She took her seat in the front row. I felt a few bolts in my heart loosen. She sat beside Caleb! I couldn't concentrate in class. I felt hot inside and waited for the period to end.

I cursed under my breath every ten seconds. The clock seemed to tick slower than usual. It was really annoying.

When the bell finally decided to grace me with its ring, I walked to Caleb's desk and looked at Nina with a forced smile after slapping hands with Caleb.

"Hi", Nina said smiling back
"Hi, how'd you enjoy the class?" I asked continuing the conversation.
"Well, it wasn't so boring"
"Where do we go from here? This period is free"
"Library"
"Top floor"
Nina and Caleb responded respectively.
Caleb looked at me in scrutiny.
"see you later then", I said to Nina.

Deep down, I really wanted to go with her to the library but what kind of guy would I be ditching my friend for a girl.

We got to the top floor and got comfy in the bad chairs there.

"So, about that girl you fell in love with", I started to continue previous chat.
"What?"
"Oh, don't give me that man, you know what I mean"
"Well, her name is Sarah, Sarah Gibbons.", he said
"What went down with her?", I asked
"Her parents didn't want us together. They said I had a bad boy reputation in the town and they couldn't see their girl hanging around guys like myself. I explained to them I had changed, their girl made me change but they would hear nothing of it."
"What did Sarah do?", I asked
"There was nothing she could do. Her parents really scare the shit out of her. Whenever we wanted to meet, she'd tell them she was going to one of her friends place to study. We'd then meet behind the school. Hell broke lose the day we were caught together behind the school. Her father threatened to arrest me the day he saw me with his daughter again. After that day, I only saw Sarah during school hours. In those hours, we couldn't even talk. Her dad had teachers look out for us. She always kept to herself and I could tell she was hurting inside. I hated myself for letting her into my walls. If I hadn't let her in, she'd never have loved me and she'd never have to hurt the way she was hurting. I decided to leave the town after summer. I felt my absence would make her heal better."

"That's one Hell of a love story you got there though. How'd you cope with seeing her everyday then and not be able to even say hi?"

"I felt empty. It was like a part of me died. She's the reason I don't want to fall in love again. I hope her parents will come around to like me in the future"

"Well, in the mean time, you gotta get yourself together and don't let that get to you", I said.

"Yeah, yeah. Sorry Nina didn't sit with you earlier."
"Oh no, don't bring that up. The thought cost me the whole period. I couldn't even pay attention."
Caleb laughed and then I told him what went down on my way home the previous day and he laughed some more.

"Let's go to the library if Nina is still there. I'd leave you two so you could talk to her. You know what I mean right?"
"Totally. Thanks Fam."

We got to the library and Caleb left after seeing Nina was working there.

I walked over to where she was seated. Her earphone was plugged in while she filled her notes. My guess was she was filling the notes she missed out from the last couple of weeks before she resumed Mystic High School.

"What are you working on there?", I asked while sitting myself beside her.
She looked at me immediately, smiled and asked, "sorry?"
"I just asked what you were working on here?"
"Oh! You know, just filling up my notes."
"Alright, you need any help?", I asked.
"I'm fine really, I don't want to bother you with..."
"It's no bother, let me help", I interrupted her.

She passed me two notes. One was hers, the other was borrowed.

While filling up her notes, I stole a couple of glances at her. I stole a glance a particular time and saw her head move swiftly. OMG! Was she staring at me? Billy say something, sat something!

I wore a courage armor and asked, "Were you staring at me?"
"What? Me? No. No way. I wasn't staring at you."

Ah, that's a yes I was staring at you and didn't mean for you to bust me response.

I smiled and continued filling her notes. My handwriting sucked though.
