Dear Diary,

I know, I know. You probably want to hear more about the fire yesterday. Well...it's lunch right now. Is is my only time to write about it.

I had ran into the are of forest that black smoke was coming out of. I immidiately ran into Kayla.

"You have to get out of here!" I decided it might be hard to find her way back, because of the smoke, so I pointed in the direction from which I came.

I ran deeper into the forest. "EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET OUT!"

A group of five ran past me, in the direction I was pointing.

I kept yelling until my voice wouldn't work.

Then I sprinted back, praying to every god I knew of that everyone was out.

Then I heard coughing. I froze and turned towards it.

I couldn't see anyone, and ash was starting to cover my arms and face. I made my way towards the person. I heard a small sob and quickened my pace.

I had to wipe ash off my face to see better, because it was starting to block my vision.

There was a boy curled up in a ball in front of me.

"Nico?!"

He looked up from his ball, tears on his cheeks. He looked relieved to see me. "I'm sorry that I didn't stay in the infirmary, but you were the last one in here so I wanted to come get you out but I couldn't find you and-"

"Hey, it's okay. C'mon. Let's get out of here." He nodded. I offered my hand to help him up, and he took it.

"Thank you." He said. Then I took his hand and started running. He was smaller than me, but kept up fine.

We seemed to run for hours, but finally we burst through the last grove of trees and into camp. We were both coughing our lungs out, and I let go of his hand. The entire camp was watching us.

"Nico, that took forever!" One camper said.

"You both had us so worried!" Another said.

"We thought you were dead!"

"What happened?!"

"Don't scare us like that again!"

They continued saying things like that until I told them what happened.

So yeah, it's been interesting. Both me and Nico are staying in the infirmary. It's odd being the patient, not the doctor.

Well, on the bright side, Nico and I have cots close enough so that we can talk. Well... talk when he wants to. He's pretty antisocial, but that's fine.

Well, I'm expected to be back in the infirmary in two minutes. Bye.
