The bar was dark and it was pretty much people here even if it was just an ordinary work day. But it wasn't such a big surprise. Most people in the ghetto liked to drink away their problems.
"How was your day?" Hunter asked me and took a sip of his beer.
I turned my head towards him, leaving all the other people around us with my eyes. "Not my best day and not my worst day." I swallowed the rest of my beer in one big sip. I didn't realize that the beer glass had gotten empty so fast. I ordered in one more. "You?"
"Same." Hunter glanced at me. "Maybe you should take it a bit easy, we just came here."
I just shook my head and swallowed one more sip of my second beer. "I know if I'll get drunk, you'll get me home safe." I smirked at him and slightly punched his muscular arm with my fist. "And for once, I just wanna relax and lose control a little."
He nodded and drank up his beer. "Then I'll have to stay pretty sober." He winked.
Then he ordered in two tequila shots. He took one of the small glasses and raise it into the air. "Cheers to your first day in freedom as an adult."
I took up the other glass with tequila and merged it with his. "Cheers!" I swallowed the strong liquid in one big sip.
--------------
I laughed and felt dizzy, really dizzy. I swallowed another tequila. Hunter probebly wasn't as drunk as I was. At least he didn't laugh as much as I did. I luaghed at things that don't even was funny. It felt good to laugh.
I was going to swallow another tequila but Hunter pushed it away.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I slurred and tried to point at Hunter but I don't think I did becuase everything was just blurry.
"I think it's time for us to go home now. Remember that you have to work tomorrow." He said.
I put my finger in the air. "Fuck it, I don't want to work! You know what, fuck everybody!"
"Okey, it's really time for us to go home." He nodded against the entry door. "Come on."
"Okey, daaaad." I jumped off the bar chair but my legs gave way and I immediately fell against the floor. Just when I was about to hit the floor, someone held me up, it was Hunter.
He started leading me towards the entry.
Wonder how much he had drinked if he could steady me like this. Had he even drinked something? I didn't remember.
--------
Hunter let me down on my bed. I don't even know if he just helped me walk all the way home or if he carried me.
He was going to go out of my room but I took a hold around his wrist. He turned around.
"Sit down." I said slowly.
He nodded and sat down beside me on my bed. I sat up and leaned closer to him. I was so drunk that I didn't even know what I was doing. Then I kissed him.
When I ended the short kiss he just looked at me confusing and then suddenly, I fell asleep.
-----------
"Get up get up sleepyhead!" Hunter pulled away my curtins and my whole room lit up.
I quickly pulled my duvet over my head, blocking out the strong sunshine from my eyes. My head hurted like a bitch and I just wanted to stay in bed for the rest of the day, but I had to work or else I would probebly die.
I slowly pushed my duvet off me and then sat up in bed.
"Wow, you look..." Hunter scratched the back of his head.
"Like hell." I tried to rub the sleep out of my eyes.
"Kinda." Hunter sat down beside me on my bed. "Do you remember anything from yesterday?"
I thought for a second. "Not really." I grimaced. "Everything's kinda blurry."
"So... you don't remember about that you kissed me?" Hunter raised an eyebrow.
"Wait... What?? Did I kiss you?! I'm so sorry, I didn't know what I was doing."
"I know I know. It's okey."
I laughed. "I mean, it would be totally weird if we where together."
Hunter laughed too. "Yeah." He stood up. "Come on, time to go up and get to work."
"Okey okey." I said and sighed.
Hunter walked out from the room. In a way, he felt a bit disappointed. He had been best friend with Skyler since they where little and just a couple of years ago he had started feeling a different way about her. He loved her, more than a friend. Hunter had got really happy when Skyler had kissed him, but clearly she didin't mean it.
---------------
-4 months later-
I wiped some sweat off my forehead and steped into my little apartment. It was quite hot here on the summer.
I sighed. "Another day of hard work."
Hunter laughed. "Good job."
I lughed back. "I know right."
I walked up to Vivian's room and knocked on her door. "Hello? Viv? We are home."
Nobody answered so I knocked again. "Vivian!" She had probebly passed out or something, so I opened the door and walked in. I glanced around in the room, but Vivian wasn't there.
I walked out the room and bumped into Hunter. "She isn't there." I said.
"Maybe she went out." Hunter replied.
"She's never going out when it's light outside."
"I'm sure she's okey." Hunter squezzed my arm.
"I don't care."
"You don't?" Hunter let go off my arm.
"No. Ever since mom died she has never been there for me. She has certainly run off with some guy or something. But I don't care." I didn't know what to feel about my sister, she is just in the way most of the time, I thought to myself.
Hunter looked at me surprised. "Okey." He clapped his hands together. "Then let's make some dinner."
We both walked into the little kitchen and immediately stopped in the doorway. On the little kitchen tabble a little silver thing stood. It was a time transfer, the thing where time is kept. We only bumped into them when we were going to pay something or when we got our salary.
Hunter slowly walked up to the little thing and picked it up. He gasped and turned around, staring at me. "Sk-Skyler. It's 500 years."
I quickly walked up to him. It couldn't be true. But when I looked down on the little display on the time transfer it said 500 years with small green numbers.
I put my hand to my mouth. "Oh my god. It can't be true!"
Hunter put the time transfer back and picked up a little note. "Wait. It seems to be more."
Hunter turned the note towards me so I could read it. I widened my eyes and read out loud what the note said.
"Run while you can."
