“What's a Starkid?” I ask. Ali and Katrina clasp their hands over their chests and gasp as though thoroughly insulted.
“And I thought that you watched the musicals! That's what we call ourselves. Starkids. We're actually very wonderful people,” explains Ali. I smirk at her.
“Alright, oh modest one.”
She laughs and takes my hand, dragging me faster toward the door. Katrina follows alongside us. Ali pounds on the door and shouts, “Open up, crazies!” I hear a mumble from the other side and a man with curly dark hair opens the door.
“What's the password?” he requests, making himself look a bit shadier.
“How about fuck the password and let's go watch Disney movies?” Katrina suggests.
Curly Hair steps aside with a large grin. “Access granted!” He eyes me with confusion. “Who's the newbie?”
I feel Ali put her hands on my shoulders, guiding me through the door, as she answers, “This is Vivian Anderson. Vivi, this is Darren Criss. He played Harry in A Very Potter Musical, remember?”
I nod, remembering where exactly I'd seen that curly head of hair before, and give a short, nervous wave. I was never good with meeting new people, especially not new boys.
“I see we have a shy one,” Darren grins cheekily and I blush.
“She'll warm up to you eventually,” Ali tells him. “Where's everyone else?”
“Holden's out with Walker and Povolo, Joey's in the kitchen with Brosenthal, Lauren's gone shopping with Jaime and Bonnie. Moses is with the Langs working on some new stuff upstairs. And your boyfriend is working with me on some lyrics.”
Ali looks at me excitedly. “Good! Vivi, come with me and I'll introduce you to everyone!”
I groan. “But that's so many people. You know I get nervous easily.”
“Gotta get rid of the nerves somehow.” She grabs my hand and pulls me along. “Come on, I'll introduce you to A.J. first.”
She leads me into a large room, which I assume is the living room, where a guitar is set up in the center of the room and two stools, one of which is occupied by an adorable man with brown hair and brown eyes who is scribbling down some lyrics onto his pad of paper. When he looks up and sees Ali, his face lights up.
“Hey,” he says, standing up to wrap her in a hug. He kisses her nose as they're separating and I see Ali smile and blush.
She takes his hand in hers and turns so that she's now facing me. “A.J., I'd like you to meet my best friend from high school, Vivian Anderson.”
Feeling as though I already know him from how often Ali spoke of him to me on the phone and on Skype, I hold out my hand and smile.
“So you're the famous Vivi,” he says, pulling me into a hug rather than taking my hand.
I hug back and respond, “That would be me. And you're the heart if I'm not mistaken.”
He grins and answers in his character's voice, “At your service, madam.”
Yep, he's perfect for Ali, I think, laughing at his goofy personality.
Ali laughs and kisses A.J.'s cheek before releasing his hand. “Alright, I'll come back for you later. I'm going to introduce Vivi to the rest of the group.”
A.J. nods and sits back down on his stool with his notepad of lyrics. Ali waves to him and takes me out of the room through another door which goes into the hallway. I smirk at her playfully and poke her side.
