Eleven

I looked down, seeing a little girl at the door, her face instantly lighting up when she spotted Kenny, who smiled down at her. "Hi baby girl," he said, cheerfully, picking her up into his arms, pulling her into a warm embrace.

I stood next to them, awkwardly, who was this little girl? And why was she so excited to see him? My thoughts were interrupted when a thin girl in a Christmas sweater appeared at the door. I recognized her from the brisk morning at school. Her pale blue eyes almost grey, with dark bags under her eyes. What was she doing here?

"Hey Kenny," she started, before seeing me, "you brought Stormy here?" She asked, quietly, I could tell she was anxious, it was almost tangible.

I looked at her, noting the messy bun her hair was in, and the mangled mess it had become, looking as though she'd been on a wild goose chase.

"Yeah, this is my daughter, Anastasia.. I think I should introduce her to my girlfriend." Kenny said, looking at the little girl in his arms and then back to, who I assumed to be, Anastasia.

My mind was going a thousand miles a second and I grabbed the door that was next to me, feeling my knees growing weaker, Kenny had daughter?

My mind was still racing when the little girl grabbed my hand, pulling me into the house. My eyes darted to Kenny, how could he not tell me he had a kid, after all this time.

I smiled, a weak smile as Kenny's daughter showed me her toy room, but all I could focus on was him, talking to Anastasia, acting as though this was nothing big to spring on me out of the blue, as if this was nothing but a day at the park.
