I wake up to the sound of whispers just outside my door. They were harsh whispers, like the two people were arguing over something. Confused, I pushed off my covers and tip-toed over to the door. Pressing my ear against the cold wood, I strained to hear everything they were saying. The two voices were both high so I assumed they were both girls. Maybe some of the other girls were fighting over something small, as per usual. But they wouldn't be up this late though...

"I don't think you should tell her yet, she could get very upset." Are they talking about me?

"She's almost 18, she should be fine." Yup, definitely me. Now really curious, I knelt down so that my eye was level with the key hole. I looked out and could only see the bottom of their shirts but could immediately tell who was who by their clothes. Tia was dressed in black slacks with a red blouse and a black blazer to match. I could tell she was wearing heals because her waist was a lot higher than Lucy's. Lucy was dressed in her usual house clothes with an apron tied around her waist.

"That doesn't mean a thing. What you want to tell her is a lot for her to take in, almost 18 or not." I shifted my feet and the floor boards let out a loud creek. The two stopped talking and I froze waiting for something to happen.

A moment passed before they continued their conversation.

"Anyways, I think you should at least wait till she's awake and only tell her some of it, not all of it." Lucy whispered. I heard a sigh from whom I was assuming was Tia. I watched as Lucy's apron went out of sight before I rushed back to my bed.

As soon as I laid down the door opened and in a panic, I shut my eyes pretending to sleep. The floor creaked and silent clicking noises rang through the room as Tia made her way to the bed. For some odd reason, I was scared even though I knew she wouldn't do anything to me. I felt the end of the bed dip and I stiffened. I wanted to sneak a look but was scared Tia would know I was awake.

A soft hand reached out to brush away some of my hair and I could feel her eyes on me. I could feel the warmth pouring out of them, trying to tell me something so important but holding back as well.

"Blaise? Honey I know you're awake." I sighed and slowly sat up and stared at her face. The fact that she called me honey sent a warmth inside that I thought I would never have. It was comforting and I felt myself leaning forward as if to tell her I wanted a hug. I caught myself though, scolding myself and backing up so that my back was against the backboard.

"Did you hear anything?" I shook my head no, trying to hide the fact that I was lying. She sighed and just sat there staring at the wall obviously deep in thought. I took this time to take her in again. Her forest green eyes were almost exactly like mine and it gave me an uncanny feeling. Her cheeks were a deep flushed red but somehow I knew it wasn't makeup. Her hair was brushed back into a sleek low pony this time, giving her a confidence that I wish I had. I was kind of happy that I found one thing that wasn't eerily like any of my own features, with my fiery red hair.

We sat in silence before I decided to brake it.

"What is it that you wanted to tell me?" she looked at me now and I could see all kinds of emotions in her eyes.

"Why don't we wait till after breakfast, huh?" I hesitated before nodding. We both got up and I followed her out of the room and into the kitchen. No one else was there and I was beginning to wonder what time it was. I glanced at the clock above the sink and saw that it was 5 o'clock in the morning. I scrunched up my nose, slightly upset that I was awake this early on a Saturday. I am the complete opposite of a morning person and I'm kind of glad I decided to get breakfast first or things might have gotten really ugly if she would have told me some bad news.
