Tao: One more try

Love is a strong word. You love him, so you have to leave him. The excessive amount of work, the effort he needs to put into keeping your relationship a secret, the obsessive fans that sneak to close to him, he was over-doing it. It was killing him softly. And his pain was killing you too.

"Tao..?" you said in an unsure tone. He was holding your hand and turned to face you. He was smiling like a child, and for a second there you were hesitating whether you should tell him or not.

"Yes, baby?" 

You released his grip from your hand and his smile disappeared.

"What happened?" he asked you worriedly.

"I... I think we should break up," you finally say.

He smiled, "Hahaha... Now now, that's not funny."

"I'm not joking. It breaks my heart to see you suffer when you know you can't handle both your work and me at the same time. You have to rush back and forth to your fans and me, and it's tiring you out. An idol just shouldn't be in love with a commoner. It's not your fault... it's mine. I can't take this anymore, I can't date someone who can't give their full attention to me on a date without looking at his phone for any changes to his schedule. I'm sorry. Let's break up." You leave before you change your mind. It was the best solution to the problem... Or so you thought.

(2 weeks later)

The grey, cloudy skies are painted with clouds, with not a ray of sunlight peering out of them. Raindrops fall to the tempo of your heartbeat. Pit. Pat. Pit. Pat. 

You heard from a friend that EXO was hosting a concert today, but the skies seem to not want it go successfully. You hope that the concert is indoors, with a nice, sturdy roof for him to perform under. Him... Once more you think about him.

I wonder how he's doing? Your doorbell rings and you go to answer it. You open the heavy, white door to see Tao, all wet from the rain. The circles under his eyes had darkened since the last time you saw him, making him look wearier. He hugs you tightly, and cries, resting his head on your shoulders.

"Tao? Are you alright?" You pat him on the back.

"Don't leave me... Please promise me you won't. I love you. I really do. I can't imagine what life would be without you. Baby... please, give me one more try. I promise I'll do better this time, so just please give me one more chance... Please..." he sobs and presses his face in your hair, near your neck.

Your heart softens and you try not to cry with him, "But honey, I don't want you to exhaust yourself. When you get hurt it hurts me too."

"But it hurts me most having to live without you." He lets go of you and holds both of your hands. You can see the tear stains on his cheeks, and your heart aches. You finally understand how much you mean to him. That the one who has been hurting him most is you. You wipe the trail of tears away from his face, and he puts his hands on yours. He kisses your hand, then your arm, your shoulder, and all the way up to your lips.

"Tao... I'm sorry for my foolish actions. I thought you would to better without me... Mianhae," you apologize between kisses.

"It's okay, babe. It's okay..." he shuts the door once he enters your house, and closes the lights.
