Sorry for the late update :/

---------------

The guys were returning tomorrow, and Evan was still shaken up about his conversation with Vanoss, who had yet to show himself again.

He spent his days watching TV, eating takeout, and lounging around the house wishing he could do something. He felt so useless, not knowing what to do since the guys weren't there to suggest things and Evan didn't want to go out in fear of forgetting or being unable to get back.

It seemed fitting, the one time Evan wanted his annoying subconscious to show up, he wasn't there. That's great, really great.

In other news, Evan had cleaned the house, now it looked as if the guys had never left. Their belongings were in respectable piles near the front entrance, sticky notes attached on top of each one so that they could know which was theirs.

Currently, Evan was walking around the apartment aimlessly, trying to remember anything from the various photos around the house. There were dozens of them, from them eating pizza to embarrassing drunk moments one of the guys had caught. Just small candid moments that were special to them.

"You know I liked looking at these too, really reminds me of how far I've come." Vanoss appeared out of nowhere, admiring the pictures as well.

Evan jumped, surprised. "How many times do I have to tell you not to do that?!" He clutched a hand over his heart, feeling the rapid pounding of the organ against his chest.

"Well, you called didn't you? I was just dropping by to hang out." Somehow Vanoss always managed to irritate Evan with just a few sentences. It must be his cocky attitude, no actually, it was without a doubt his cocky attitude and carefree smirk.

Evan rolled his eyes and continued to admire the photos, having no smart remark to counter what Vanoss had said.

Vanoss in turn stayed silent, studying every photo with a faint smile, obviously thinking back to when each of them had been taken.

Questioning if Vanoss was still there, Evan glanced over to his right where Vanoss was stood, his gaze transfixed on a specific photo. His eyes were full of joy, but his expression held a sad smile as he let his gaze linger on the photo, it must be his favorite.

Evan turned to the photo itself, it was one of him and Jonathan, selfie style because it was obvious Jonathan was holding the camera. There was a gazebo in the background, meaning that they had been at a park, and behind the gazebo was a beautiful sunset, the sky was a mix of pale pinks, purples, reds, and oranges behind the two smiling men. He could see why Vanoss loved this photo, it was beautiful.

Vanoss sighed, his eyes still locked on the photo as he spoke. "Soon, you'll realize just how much that photo means to us." His voice was barely above a whisper, and Evan had barely heard him. Although he was curious, Evan bit back a response, he didn't want to ruin the moment.

Hours had passed, and neither of them noticed until Evan glanced through the windows and was met with the pale colors of the sun starting to set. He didn't feel hungry, only a large wave of fatigue as he stretched his arms and started towards his bedroom, deciding to call it an early night. Hopefully he would be awake to welcome the guys home tomorrow, right when they came through the door.

But halfway across the living room he stopped, the room started to spin and his vision turned blurry. He heard his knees fall against the carpet underneath him with a quiet 'thump', but he didn't feel it at all. In fact, he felt numb as slowly everything started to turn to black as his eyes repeatedly blinked, his brain trying to keep awake for as long as possible.

He heard Vanoss rush over to him, panic ran wild in his eyes as he said something to himself in a rushed voice. He repeated the words over and over as Evan found himself now on the floor, his eyes beginning to slow their rapid blinking.

"Memory spike, memory spike. Where's Brock when we need him? Memory spike, not a memory spike...." Evan barely heard the words that had left Vanoss' mouth as he closed his eyes, feeling his body relax as it went limp with fatigue, and the entirety of his vision became black and numb.

Jonathan yawned, squinting his eyes as the fading sunlight got in his eyes. They were about a day's drive away from the apartment, heading back after a successful mission. However, he was looking for a hotel right now because he felt so tired and most of his friends were already asleep.

He glanced at Tyler, who was sat in the passenger seat, and discovered that he too had fallen asleep. Sighing, he pulled into the nearest hotel, temporarily parking in the front area. He turned towards Lui, who was now the only one still awake, and nodded at him.

"I'll be right back, wake the guys." He said, opening the car door and getting out. He could see Lui clamber into the backseat to wake the guys just before he stepped into the lobby.

It was nothing special, not as crappy as a motel but definitely not five stars. There was a grand staircase off to the left side, the floor was carpeted with a very hotel-esque feel and by the decorating Jonathan could tell they were either going for a semi-modern look, or a complete failure of a complete modern look.

"Hi! How may I help you?" A cheerful young blonde greeted from behind what was apparently the front desk.

"Hello, can I have two of your biggest rooms? My friends and I are on our way home from a trip and didn't realize how tired we were."

"Of course! How long will you be staying?" The blonde asked, batting her eyelashes in a very flirtatious way. Jonathan ignored it.

"Just tonight." He said curtly, noticing her disappointment that he hadn't taken an interest in her.

"Why are you in such a hurry, handsome?" She said, ringing up the total for the two rooms, her tone once again flirtatious.

"Uh, my boyfriend was sick so he stayed home and I just want to make sure he's ok." He said quickly, shutting her down as well as ending their short-lived conversation. It wasn't technically a lie, Evan was dating him, he just didn't remember, which technically made him sick, and Jonathan was worried about him.

The girl huffed, rolling her eyes as she tore off a receipt and pulled out a handful of room keys, taking six from the pile and putting the rest away.

"Figures the only cute guys that come here are gay." She grumbled under her breath as she searched for a card holder underneath the counter. Once she found it, she put the cards inside and turned back towards Jonathan, giving him a tight smile. "Here's your keys, it's a connecting room. You can pay when you check out."

Jonathan took the keys from her and smiled. "Thanks." He said, tucking the cards into his front pocket as he headed back out to the car.

That night Jonathan and the guys celebrated their victory, having a few drinks before heading to the hotel. They slept peacefully that night, completely unaware of the unconscious Evan on the living room floor.
