Morning light filtered through the trees, casting a pale glow over the safe-house. The faint chirping of birds in the distance offered a brief moment of normalcy, but inside, the tension remained thick and unyielding.

Miyu woke up to find Gojo already up, standing by the window with his arms crossed. His gaze is fixed outside, watching the world beyond the protective barriers he had meticulously layered around them. There is a new intensity in his eyes, a seriousness she hasn't seen before.

"Gojo?" Miyu's voice was soft as she sits up, the bed creaking beneath her.

Gojo turned to her, his expression softening slightly. "Morning," he greeted, but his voice lacked its usual playfulness. He walked over and sit beside her, his hand gently brushing a stray from her face.

"Did you sleep at all?" she asked, concern evident in her tone.

He shook his head. "Not really. I wanted to keep watch."

Miyu frowned, reaching out to touch his arm. "You need to rest too. We can't afford for you to be exhausted when..." She trailed off, the unspoken dangers they are facing is hanging heavy in the air.

Gojo placed his hands over hers, squeezing it gently. "I'll be fine. We need to focus on what's next. The man from last night, whoever he is, he's not going to stop until he gets what he wants. And what he wants is to break me."

Miyu's heart tightened at the thought. "But why you? What could he possibly gain from hurting you like this?"

Gojo's expression darkened as he considered the question. "Power, revenge — there are a lot of reasons. But the real issue is that he's targeting you to get to me. And I can't let that happen."

Miyu's gaze dropped to their intertwined hands. "I don't want to be your weakness, Gojo."

"You're not," he said quickly, lifting her chin so she meet his eyes. "You're my strength, Miyu. But he's trying to twist that, to make me believe that caring about you makes me vulnerable."

Miyu's eyes filled with determination as she meets his gaze. "The let's not giving him that power. We'll face this together, like we always do."

Gojo smiled, a glimmer of his usual self shining through. "You're right. We've faced worse than this, haven't we?"

Miyu nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. "We'll get through this, Gojo. But you need to take care of yourself too."

Gojo nodded, leaning in to press a kiss to her forehead, he agrees.

They spent the morning planning their next steps. Gojo went over the barriers again, adding another layer of protection, while Miyu practiced the defensive techniques he had been teaching her. She is determined to learn everything she could, to be ready for whatever might come.

As the hours passed, Miyu grew more confident in her abilities. Gojo watched her with a mixture of pride and concern. He could see how hard she is pushing herself, and while he admired her determination, he couldn't shake the fear that it might not be enough.

By late afternoon, they are both on edge. The day had been too quiet, the stillness unnerving. Gojo keeps his senses on high alert, scanning for any sign of cursed energy or intruders.
