Cara's wolf up top.
pre rejection
Cole:
I stared at my mate. My beautiful mate. Cara Thompson.
My best friend. But I wouldn't be good for her.
We wouldn't be good together.
She's an angel and I wasn't pure like her. Not near enough. It just wasn't meant to be for us. She'll always be close to my heart.
She looked so happy already. Who was I to ruin what she had?
I sighed and walked outside, feeling like dirt. I stopped and a few minutes later her scent invaded my nostrils. So she had smelled me.
She stopped directly in front of me, her head hanging down.
I hoped to god she would just look up.
God that outfit hadn't been helping my situation. She just looked so pretty that night.
Her gaze shot straight up and she took in my appearance with surprise.
I looked up at her perplexed.
She smiled at me and awkwardly attempted to step closer to me.
"I can't believe it! All this time you were right there! Wow! Wait that means that you've known since your birthday on Thursday. Why didn't you tell me? Never mind that, we can be happ-"
"Cara stop. " I said, trying to sound as inferior as ever.
She stopped and frowned. She took another step and I backed away again. I kept this up before she finally stopped trying to get closer to me.
"It hurts me so much to say this Cara, but... I love Lilly and you know it. She's my one and only.
I Cole Jefferson, Reject Cara Thompson as my mate."
It wasn't a complete lie. I did love Lily. But I knew that I was in love with Cara. However I know she deserves someone better than me. She'd reject me without a second thought if she'd known what I'd done. She deserved someone higher than me. Someone who wouldn't end up hurting her.
"B-but you- you're my mate. You can't do this to me." She croaks, tears spilling from her beautiful eyes.
My eyes were filling up as I kissed her forehead for a few long seconds.
"No, I'm just your best friend."
And with that I stepped away from my beautiful mate.
I took off into the forest, the midnight sky covering my coat with moonlight. After about ten minutes of this, it happened. As I was running, I felt it. Cara's pain. My eyes widened in distress.
What was possibly happening?
I ran as fast as my legs would carry me.
When I arrived at the scene, I turned red with anger. Who did this?
Cara was hunched on the ground, her eyes half lidded in pain. Her bones were cracking in and out multiple times.
I growled and pushed everyone away from her. I crouched over her protectively, her safety the only sensible thought I could reach.
"Who hurt my mate?" I growled out loud. Who'd done this to her?
She groaned and her neck snapped loudly. The sound was crisp and chilling.
That's when I realized she was shifting.
Why was she in so much pain though? I whimpered at a sudden realization. Was this my fault?
I felt hands on me and looked back to see a rage filled Liam. He threw me to the ground, eyes pitch black with unchained rage.
"So you're the A whole who rejected my baby sister huh? I will kill you! " He shouted, each word paired with two punches to my face. They pulled him off me just as Cara turned immobile, her eyes slowly shutting. My face is bloody and numb, I was immune to the pain unfortunately. But my eyes held a question.
