Elizabeth

Today is my 27th birthday.

I am not very excited and I am not fond of it as much anymore since I had to work late last night, once again before my birthday. Fun ay? No. However, I did not mind as much this time because I needed to distract myself from anything to take my mind off things meaning my parents. It has been five days since my parents died an unpleasant death.

I am just happy they have seen my brother and I graduate from both high school and college. I majored in literature because I enjoy reading and that's my favorite thing to do if I have nothing else to do. My parents took my brother, Dylan, in when I was 5 and he was 3. Dylan was abandoned when he was only two weeks old and was put in an orphanage. He's styled with dark brown hair and brown chocolate eyes that glow caramel in the sunlight. He is always nice to everyone while also being very smart. Many girls did not notice him in high school because he always seemed to try too hard when it came to finding a girl.

When he did find one, she was classy even though she did not fit into his type of crowd, she was more of the schools 'It Girl'. She was smart and pretty, the cheerleader type. But, they ended up sweethearts by the end of their senior year. They got married after college graduation and had their first child; my niece Leila, who looks so much like her father. At Dylan's wedding, I was introduced to his best friend, Jonathan. Jonathan is athletic, charming, and attractive with his seductive deep brown eyes and tousled, short brown hair. We have been dating for 5 years and going strong. He has not popped the question yet, but I am patient and will not force him into something he is not ready for. I just hope soon, because I do not want to have a baby at age 40 or get married by that time either. Jonathan and I wanted to try to have kids as soon as we get married and maybe get our own place together before we can start our family. But for now, I have a family who I am close with, my best friend Anastasia Rook.

Anastasia and I have so much history, I can write a story about us. I will not waste your time but here is a short version:

Anastasia and I have been friends since we were three. We were never separated; had sleepovers, lunch dates, and even got into a little trouble here and there. And one secret we have that we will never tell anyone. One night at a college party with the Fraternity boys, we were both heavily intoxicated back in college; we were dared to make out. We did, but we did not do anything else particular only to find a picture that it was true. We never mention it or talk about it. we barely remember it. We are never uncomfortable around each other. She is my best friend and my sister.

Anastasia loves to sing and even sings in the shower so much that I begged her to go to X Factor and audition. However, she did and she got in! She can sing really good, and she is on her fourth album and succeeding very quickly. All thanks to me!

My alarm goes off as I awaken from my slumber and the light beams from my thin, white sheer curtains. I stretched and yawned while grabbing my phone from the nightstand. I check my notifications and see two text messages from Jonathan, along with knowing today is my birthday. Whoopi! I frowned at my stupidity.

Sweetheart: good morning my sunshine xx
Sweetheart: breakfast this morning? Just you and I.

Me: sure, I just woke up. Xx
Me: I'll be ready in 20.

I glanced at my clock, looking at the time. It's 10:30. Oh great, Ana might be up because she's a light sleeper and a morning person. I rose out of bed walking to my bathroom.

I washed my face in a proper manner before turning on the faucets and starting the shower. I check the temperature before getting in. I wash up, removing the dirt hiding invisibly on my skin. I shampoo and condition my hair after rinsing myself completely off along with my hair. I turn off the water and grab my towel wrapping it around my myself as I pat myself dry completely. I comb through my hair and blow dry through curls while adding little amount makeup on my pale face.

I walk out the bathroom finding myself something cozy to wear. Since we live in Florida, we always have warm weather. I grabbed my matching lace underwear garments before grabbing my typical sundress. I put everything on before grabbing my phone, purse, and sunglasses walking out the door while slipping on my sandals.

I glanced at my phone receiving two texts from Jonathan.

Sweetheart: oh god, it has been over 20 minutes baby what are you doing?
Sweetheart: I'm coming in! -_-

I giggled at his messages until I walk into Ana. "Well, don't you look gorgeous and happy birthday btw." She compliments and winks.

"Thank you, John wants to go out for breakfast," I said honestly.

"Ouch, without me. What a bitch." She held her chest in fake hurt. I grab her shoulders apologizing until we both walk to the living room. There he was sitting on our solid, creamy white sofa. His eyes popped out his head when he saw me. His smile widened as I move a curl to the side.

"Hi." I greeted, kissing him passionately.

"Hey." He breathes. God, I love him.

"Ready to go?" I nodded, we wave goodbye to Ana leaving out of the building happily as ever.

Jonathan drove up to a pleasant restaurant as we walked inside with our waitress leading us to our table. The lights were dim and it was very romantic. What is he up to? My subconscious asked.

Jonathan smiles as we are being seated, thanking our waitress until his eyes met mine. He grabs my right hand bringing it to his lips.

"God, you look so beautiful today, and I love you so much. I am the luckiest son-of-a-bitch alive to have you." He kisses my knuckles his eyes still not leaving mine.

I giggled mumbling "I know and I love you too." I lead over the table kissing him soft and slow.

After our entrees arrive, John orders dessert along with a cupcake with a candle lit. Oh my god, he is so precious.

"Happy birthday, baby." He kisses my cheek. After we laugh and chat a bit more. I finally cut into my cupcake only to see a ring in the middle of the delicious little creation.

I glanced at Jon with a surprised look on my face. "Marry me?" He gets down on one knee.

I nodded, screaming yes and giggling.

Finally, he has come around.
