Ana
It was a text from Justin, which I just ignored. Dylan takes me home and neither of us questioned what just happened a couple of minutes ago.
Dylan parks in the driveway and we both got out and he locks his doors to his Jeep, following behind me as I unlocked the front door.
I stopped in my tracks wondering why is Dylan behind me, shouldn't he be at home with his wife and kid?
"What are you doing?" I laugh closing the door behind us.
"What? I am just staying the night and visiting my sister." He said walking towards the guest bedroom.
I go to my room just before I closed my door I heard Dylan's voice ring in my ears.
"Goodnight Ana."
"Goodnight."
**********
I wake up to the sound of arguing. I glanced at my clock and it was 4:30 in the morning. I yawned grabbing my robe on my bedside putting it on.
I cracked my door a little and see if the coast is clear it was. I saw a Lizzy and John arguing only to have John walking out the door with his sweats and white shirt on and also keys in his hand.
I look to my left when I saw Dylan watching also. He and I made eye contact with the same electricity we had last night. We break eye contact and both rush to Lizzy's side.
I pulled her into my arms cradling her slowly, and Dylan rubbing her back.
"Liz, what happened?" Dylan asks his sister.
"I lost the baby." She spills with hurt.
Oh, my God.
********
Me and Dylan teamwork with cleaning Lizzy's bedsheets while she slept in my bed instead of her own. Jonathan has not returned and it's after 9. I told Dylan to go looking for him. Dylan showered up and left right away.
I went into my room and laid beside Liz. She looks so exhausted and drained. My poor best friend. She lost her parents and now her daughter or son. Why her? I hate to see her like this. Lizzy does not deserve this. This baby was her only hope to change her future; for her to move on over her parents' death when the time was right.
Her eyes meet mine as I cradled her dark brown hair. "You hungry honey?" She shakes her head holding onto me tighter.
"Liz you need to eat." I tried to change her mind. But it did not work.
"Ana, he is so broken." That was the only thing she could say.
"We know. But you both are babe." I said honestly.
"He was so excited becoming a daddy." She started. "He was gonna stop his acting career when he or she was born and start another occupation." She cried into my sleeve.
"He said me and the baby are his life and it will change him completely and be a better father than his own. Ana, I messed it up for him." I hushed her to stop talking.
"No more talking, get some rest but I'm going to make you some breakfast okay." She nods.
I leave the room walking into the kitchen but only to get startled by a tall figure. It was Dylan.
"Hi." He said drinking the last of his orange juice.
"Hi." I grabbed my ingredients making Lizzy breakfast.
"How she holding up?" He asks concern sitting on a stool under the island.
"Not so good, she is constantly blaming herself." He sighs rubbing his face.
"I found John last night." I turned around 90 degrees facing Dylan.
"Where was he?" I ask.
"At a near bar, drinking his pain away." I frown a bit and realized what Lizzy mention.
"I bet he was. Lizzy said he was gonna stop acting and be a better father than his own." I begin making my pancakes.
"Yeah. But he will come back." When Dylan said that, John comes walking in the kitchen sitting his keys on the countertop.
"Where is Lizzy?" He asks concerned.
"My room," I told him sipping on my coffee.
"Thank you." He gave Dylan a bro hug.
After Jonathan disappeared, I smirk at Dylan. "What it's not my fault that I give good advice." He defended himself.
"My bad. But what did you say actually." I was full of curiosity.
"I told him, man up. Bro, we're not little anymore. You both will go through the struggles and devastating time. You have each other. And you promised her that you will never ever leave her. Apologize and love her." He smiles.
"Coming from a married man." I chuckled playfully and Dylan sighs and moves uncomfortably.
"What is it!" I said angrily as my smile went to a frown. "Damn it, Dylan! I'm getting annoyed that every time I mention any part of Dallas you get uncomfortable or stammer a bit!" I raised my voice.
"You know what? Since you want to know so damn bad!" He fires back. "Dallas left me and Lelia. I am the only parent she has right now!" He said angrily storming out the kitchen going to the guest bedroom.
I didn't mean to snap at him, I didn't know it was so bad. I need to talk to him.
