Hope y'all enjoy the chapter!

I'd like to thank the reader (paida_popoko95). This amazing person has been supporting my book since the beginning. There were so many times I considered dropping this book, but because of their support I've kept on writing. Thank you so much!

• Ok let's FINALLY get started! •

* * * * *

One day, Life asked death:

"Why do people love me but hate you?"

Death responded:

"Because you're a beautiful lie, and I'm the painful truth"

I spin slowly in a circle scanning higher into the trees and my eyes catch the slight movement of a shadow. I continue my search as if I hadn't noticed the movement and move my right foot forward, preparing to run again. I guess my body had other ideas because the exhaustion from the day and the intense running had finally drained me. The world swayed before me and black dots started to appear in front of my eyes as I started to loose consciousness.

I could feel the world spinning and I braced myself for the impact of the cold hard ground which, conveniently may I add, never came. I squinted my eyes open with the last of the energy that I had and found myself staring into two beautiful eyes...

That was the last thing I'd remember before succumbing to the darkness...

My feet pumped faster as the chase gave way - exhaustion gnawing at me like claws fastening their hold. I knew that I shouldn't stop, yet something unexplainable made me slow down and turn to face the predators, my pursuers. Teethwhite and sharp as a bladeblinked back at me in a gut-retching smile, chilling me to the bone. There was only one word for this type of terror: Angeloids.

The creatures of nightmares stared me down ready to pounce, but that wasn't what was truly scaring me. The truly frightening thing was myself, the crazed smile that almost mirrored the creatures themselves.

I could've sworn that there was a flash of something in its eyes; confusion, anger, or maybe even fear?

I would never know because the next second, we're lunging at each other, claws scratching and blood spilling.

It was as if everything wrong in the world rushed towards me at one moment, and nothing had ever felt so right.

After another chilling smile the third Angeloid steps out and speaks no an eerily calm voice; "Time to wake up..."

I bolt upright, breathing heavily with sweat dripping down my brow. The nefarious smile still lingering in my mind, all while being completely unaware of the presence leisurely leaning against the wall.

"Finally awake I see" A voice broke through the silence, causing a my head to whip in the direction. Giving me slight whiplash, might I add.

After taking a second to asses the situation I whisper/snapped back; "Who the Hell are you!?"

My throat was scratchy and raw, making my voice come out mangled.

After and intense few moments.  I can't help but straighten my posture, finally aware of the possible dangers of this situation.

He mumbles something under his breath, provoking my frustration further, then proceeded to sit in a chair positioned near the bed I was on.

There's something painstakingly familiar about this man, yet I can't place it so I just stare at the irksome figure in front of me. For some reason I couldn't bring myself to look him in the eyes, something about him just felt, wrong. Without notice of my sudden change in mood, he proceeds to talk about things I didn't want to talk about: Why I was running around in the woods, Why I was alone, and so on...

After a couple of minutes of him talking, he stopped, probably realizing that I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of answering any of the questions.

After a second of staring, he spoke up: "Well... I'm going to tell you this plain and simple; We can do this the easy way, in which you answer all my questions..."

He let the silence settle in for a second then glared my way. "Or we can do this the hard way..."

My heart stopped in my chest at the end of his sentence, fear seeking into my veins, my mouth opening and closing before getting the words out.

My head filled with a million doubts, which were cut off by the loud sound of the door being swung open.

Glancing up at the sudden intruder, I was met with a fearsome glare. Turning away from the glare, I could feel their intense gaze still burning though the side of my head.

Whoever these people were, I could tell that they were no friend of mine.

• • • Ok, first . . . Sorry the chapter was so short • • •

As you probably all know, I put this book on hold for a little while. I've been really busy, and have been having a hard time finding the inspiration to write more chapters.

Anywhoooo, I hope you enjoyed this chapter even if it wasn't the best...

(Ps: a bazillion apologizes🙏🏻)
