Chapter 6

I'm setting on my bed with Maria, we are skypeing her parents and our friends as promised. Tom said he had to run a few errands and go home to feed his dogs, then he'd be back.

He had promised to make both Maria and I a homemade dinner. Maria was excited, but I was still skeptical about him. He's been so nice and caring that I love it, but he still doesn't really know me and I don't really know him. I guess tonight will be a great start to getting to know one another, he did say he wanted to watch a movie with just me tonight after dinner. I think that's why he is cooking dinner for the both of us to make it up to Maria and trying to show her he's not that bad of a guy.

I'm in a little bit of a daze as Maria bumps me and ask me, "Earth to Leah, did you hear what Danny said?"

I look like a deer caught in headlights as I shake my head no and Maria just hits her head with her hand as she tells Danny, "Sorry her brain is in mush mode right now. She struck with love lightening."

I glare at Maria who just has the biggest smile plastered on her face and say, "I am not struck with love lightening. Like really what the fuck. I don't even know him yet."

"But you see Leah it's that word yet that proves, along with the look of love on your face, that you are falling for him. You just need to take this slow for your sake. You don't want to regret anything in the long run." Danny says and Maria just nods.

"Guys I'm not falling for him and I'm definitely not struck with love lightening. We are not even a thing, we are just coworkers. I don't even know what last night was, besides him just trying to comfort me." I try to reason with them both and myself.

I know that something is starting to form between us, I guess I'm just not willing enough to admit it to myself or anyone else right now for that matter. I just really don't want to disappoint my parents.

They may not be here psychically with me, but I know they are here in spirit. They were my world when I was younger and still are.

I snap out of my daze when I hear both Maria and Danny laughing and look at them in confusion. Their both staring at me like I grew a new head. What the hell.

"Did you guys loose your sanity or did I really sprout another head?" I question them.

They both abruptly stop laughing and look at each other as if they know something I don't.

"Sweetie don't be too hard on yourself. Once you meet the love of your life you just know, whether it's part of your plan or not. If it's right it's right, you can't control what God has planned for your destiny." Maria's mom says as I see her pop her head in on the monitor of the computer.

"I know, I just don't want to disappoint my parents. I promised them I would finish everything and be living my dream before I inolved a guy into my life." I sigh not really wanting to talk about them at this moment.

Before she could say another word, I heard a knock at the door and jumped up to get it, I said a quick goodbye as I hurried to the door. When I peek through the doors peephole I see to my relief that it is of course Tom.

He had a grocery bag in each arm as I opened up the door for him to come in.

He smiles at me and tells me, "I'm making my specialty lemon pepper chicken with asparagus and sweet corn. I hope you both like chicken."

"We do actually and that sounds mouth watering. I can't wait to actually taste it. Hopefully your a good cook and won't burn it." I say with a giggle.

Maria walks in just as I finish saying that and adds, "If you burn it. Your buying pizza, because I'm not fixing your mistake to show off."

He just shakes his head and laughs as he says, "Well I brought the wine up that I bought yesterday for us, so maybe if I do mess something up you both won't notice."

I just laugh at there banter who knew tonight could have so much light in it. Especially after a horrible day yesterday.

Tom finishes dinner in record time and already has us both, with a glass of wine in our hands, while setting at the kitchen table waiting patiently. It actually tastes amazing and we're both moaning in content with every bite we take.

After dinner Maria and I clean up the kitchen, while Tom gets things set up in my room how he wants them. I wonder what he has planned tonight that he needs to take time to set up. He's got me very curious.

I say goodnight to Maria as she gives me a little push, a wink, and says, "Have a goodnight Leah, if you know what I mean."

I blush at her words and just shake my head as I grin ear to ear. I walk into my room stopping in my tracks as I see that Tom has lit candles all round my room, put rose petals all over my bed, and has a romantic movie ready to play on the TV. I look over at him as my heart flutters and I feel butterflies dancing in my tummy.

"Tom this is just to much. How did you even get all of this in here?" I question him.

He just smiles at me and shakes his head. He walks over to me with long strides as he closes the door behind me and picks me up bridal style as I start to giggle profusely.

He gently lays me on my bed as he pushes play on the TV. He has that glint of satisfaction in his eyes as his lips find mine, moving to the beat of my heart.
