Everyone was gone and it was just Brayden and me waiting patiently for Frank to drag his sorry ass through the door. After the clock was at twenty five after I almost gave up on him and just took Brayden with me to the park at least it would be something productive when he walked through the door. Taking a double glanced as I put Brayden's diaper bag in the bottom of his stroller. Surprisingly he looked like a completely different Frank than I had ever seen before he was clean, shaved and what seemed sober for now at least. "Hey my son!" He said as he stood by the door holding a small blue gift bag. I waved back at him, pressing my lips together moving closer to him. "Wow, Franks not drunk? I think this is the first time in my entire life you've never been drunk" I said laughing somewhat hoping he was smuggling alcohol in his boot. "What's that?" I asked pointing to the blue bag he held in his hands. "Oh. Its just something for Brayden" he said making my eye brow raise and my curiosity rise "Really?..." I said not sure to be grateful or to check the bag for smuggled drugs. "Yes! Is it so hard to accept that I do not always do things with bad intentions!!" He said sounding offended. I paused and just looked around, Brayden seemed to have woken up silently at that cause I didn't hear a peep out of him since he had woken. "So... Are you ready to actually meet my son" I asked him with my arms folded in front of me. "You mean my grandson? The F**k yeah I am!!!" He shrieked with excitement and sarcasm towards me. Okay I thought to myself as I shook my head and wiped my mouth from the sip of red bull I had taken. As I turned around looking at Brayden standing in the playpen beside the couch on the side closest to the kitchen entrance he looked so happy as he waved and said Daa'Da repeatedly til I picked him up. "Hey little guy" I said carrying him over to Frank who was still standing. ....."Well..." Frank said staring at me holding him in front of me. "Sit down, I don't want you to drop him" he sighed angrily as he sat down. "Happy?!" He said putting the gift bag beside him. As much as I hated Frank I couldn't believe I was handing him one of my most precious possessions. "Now Brayden this is Frank" I said as he looked up at me, "yeah the one I told you about" laughing at the look Frank gave me. "Oh just go!" He said making me laugh. "Wait... What did you tell him? He asked. "The truth... Which is more I can say for you as a father" he just looked at me and stopped talking. Brayden grabbed the stubble on his chin running his hand across it and staring at Frank in the eyes. I couldn't tell if he was about to cry or smile, his eyes looked heavy. As he held Brayden for the first time in his almost one year on this earth. "Hey Brayden....I'm your Grandpa!" He said excitedly bouncing him making him smile which threw me for a loop... Because i couldn't remember a single time in my life Frank ever making me smile or feel good about my self. None the less maybe this would wake his sorry ass up. "And I did not drop Liam he fell!" Frank said to me making me lose my shit and spit out my drink with laughter. "We've moved past that statement" I said making Brayden laugh as I cleaned up my mess because that's the last thing I needed to get a chewing from Fiona about cleaning up after my grown up ass. "Well I'm just saying!" I threw my hands up to play the fifth because I knew better I was there when he was to drunk or high to stand. "So what's in the bag?" I asked. "Oh! I almost forgot!" He gasped getting on the floor with the bag. "What are you doing?" I asked. "Getting down here to show my grandson something is that okay smother except its worse your a father!" I just shook my head, I couldn't help but be that way.... It's not like I had the father in my life I wanted even if my son thought I was annoying or to much involved in his everyday life... At least he'd know I was there which is more than I can say for me or my siblings. Frank pulled out seven wooden blocks all painted blue and yellow with the letters B-R-A-Y-D-E-N carved in each individual block and painted black lining them all up spelling out Brayden's name. "Look familiar?" He said staring at me as Brayden grabbed a couple and started to play. I just stood there with a sheer blank look on my face I could feel myself start to get emotional I remembered those blocks but Frank couldn't have still held onto something from my childhood? Not the selfish, poor excuse of a man/father I had known all my life. I gulped and opened my mouth to answer when my phone went off and Clarissa's beautiful face lit up my screen. Hold on I have to take this I said as I answered hearing Risa on the other end.
