Kendall
Cara and I finally reach the rooftop. She opens the door and it was just like the ordinary type of rooftop on films. It was wide, white and empty.
"Shit, I've missed hanging out in here," Cara exclaims as she runs to the railings.
"Cara! Be careful," I yelled at her, walking to her place.
As I reach the railings, I was slightly taken a back.
"Wow," I breathe.
Cara's head turn to me and a huge smile is on her face. "See? Isn't the climb worth it?" She said proudly and all I can do is nod.
Everything seems to be seen from here. The whole city, the car, the buildings. But it's not what takes my breath away, it was the fact that not so far away from here is the view of the ocean. We're living in a small town so I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. It's really beautiful. The sea sparkling under the rays of the sunlight.
"Before I left the town," Cara began and my eyes shift to her, "I go here if I don't feel like going to class. But usually, I hang out here during nights. I'm close with the janitor so he gave me a key for access. I love the lights coming from the cars and the sparkling of the ocean, it relaxes me. It's like my own yoga or therapy."
"Why did you leave then?" I asked softly, not wanting to sound like I was pushing her.
I saw how her eyes soften, gaze still on the view but mine is stuck on hers.
"My parents separated and I was forced to come with my mother," she paused and I didn't say anything, I just let her. I don't know why she's able to share these things to me so easily but it doesn't make me feel less grateful. Especially I feel so comfortable around her too. It was a weird connection, developed in a matter of hours but it wasn't important, the important thing is we're able to find someone to feel this way with.
She sighed, "but then she found a guy and ... I don't know, she changed. So I left her and came back to my Dad, I was lucky he accepted me. He's really awesome,"
"Then I guess it's in the blood," I stated, this time she meets my eyes. "You're pretty awesome yourself," I said sincerely.
She chuckles, "Thanks. But I think I've heard that before so..." She teased and so I punched her arm lightly.
"Show off," I laughed.
When our laughs died down, our eyes remained connected. I don't know what's happening, it's like I'm lost and drowned with her stare. I know this might get awkward between us but it's like we can't help it.
Cara smiles, "I love your eyes," she suddenly said, breaking the silence.
I chuckled, smiling sheepishly. "Thanks, yours is great too."
"And I love your blush too," she grinned, reaching for my face and her thumb caressed my cheek.
My eyes widen, "I'm not blushing. It's just really hot in here," I defend.
"Yeah, because I'm here." She smirks.
"Whatever," I said, rolling my eyes but laughing nevertheless.
"Oh, so you don't think I'm good-looking then?" She questions, raising her perfect eyebrow.
My forehead creased, "Hmm.." I grin.
But then I was surprised when she suddenly tiptoes and leaned in. Her hand on my neck.
I stood there, stunned.
"Still not good-looking?" She asks and I can feel her hot, fragrant breath on my face.
I swallowed a lump in my throat, especially when her eyes drifted from my eyes to my lips.
"I..." I breathe.
C'mon, Kendall! Just say something!
But I can't. I feel like my tongue's paralyzed.
"I.."
"You what?" She whispers.
I bit my lip. And I didn't miss the shifting of her eyes. Her grey orbs almost became black...
Shit. Whatever.
I closed my eyes and leaned in...
Whatever happens happen.
...
...
..."HEY! YOU TWO!"
"Oh my god."
We separated quicker than a snap and looked away from each other. Cara turned her heel and faced the city once again and I end up looking at the person standing at the middle of the doorway which happens to be Cara's really tall friend.
"I've been looking for you two like crazy, you know." She said, trying to sound annoyed but an unmistakeable smirk is placed on her thin lips. No wonder they're best friends, they look both playful and mischievous.
I heard Cara clear her throat and she turned to face the tall girl again. If I'm not mistaken, her name is Karlie.
"What're you doing here?" Cara asked and I tried not to look at her but end up sneaking a glance through my peripheral vision.
A tinge of pink is visible on her pale face, is she blushing? I wanna see closer but not yet.
"It's almost dismissal time, Delevingne. Don't you have any plan on going home?" Karlie says drily then the side of her lips lift once again, "Oops, no need to answer it actually." She grins.
"Shut up! We were just talking," Cara defends and I was left here, quiet.
It just registered to me what happened. Oh my god. What the hell was that? Was she going to kiss me? And did I just really thought of letting her? I'M NOT EVEN GAY. But then... I can't be blamed. Her eyes basically drew me closer to her and... Ugh! What are you thinking, Jenner? She's just a FRIEND and for the love of god you just met her!
This is definitely just the concussion speaking... Or thinking. Yes, that's it. I'm just tired.
"Yeah... Talking " she deadpan, quoting out the word.
I frown, time to change the subject. "Where's Taylor?" I asked.
And with that, her whole aura changed. Her playful face turned gloomy and it was like she's ready to kill anytime soon.
"Yeah, where's Taylor?" My head turn to Cara who is now the one wearing a grin.
"Am I missing something here?" I asked, confused.
"No. And no, I don't know where that girl is. And I couldn't care less." She bites bitterly.
My brows furrowed. Something must've happened. I really have to catch up about this from my best friend.
...
And speaking of,
"Kenda-- What the hell are you doing here?!"
"So there she is," Cara grins.
