Chapter 11: Gypsy Cousin
“Cousin?” I asked her warily. This girl could not have been my cousin-we were too similar to be cousins. Was it just the whole amnesia that wasn’t letting me remember this cousin of mine? I really didn’t want to think about it, my head was pounding at the piece of information given to me. Coming forward she wrapped her arms around me into a warm and gentle embrace.
“We know Diana, we know what that Colin did to you” she said ever so softly. I could feel my eyes widen before I knew it my vision blurred. I could feel the hot tears fall freely as I returned her hug. So many things were happening in my life and yet I couldn’t remember most of it. I didn’t know what had I done wrong, I just knew my greatest confidant had turned against me. So desperately doing everything in his power to stop my wedding.
“It’ll be alright. You’ll stay with us until tomorrow that way we can spend some time together until your wedding” that’s right I was getting married but when? Everyone was mentioning it and speaking of the fact it was soon but I was the only one who didn’t know when it was or what the days date would be.
“When is my wedding and what is today?” I asked. She gave me this strange look as if to say you don’t know when’s your own wedding. But then it changed into a look of pity and sympathy. She released me from the hug and looked me in the eye before she answered my question.
“Your wedding Diana is in three days. And today is the 28th of November it’ll take place on the 1st of December” my heart basically leapt at her words. It was only a few days away, and here I was with a cousin whose name I had forgotten to ask. The amnesia was beginning to get on my very last nerves. Before I could even ask my cousin her name Moonlight neighed loudly to catch my attention.
“I really wish I could stay but I must go” I said walking toward Moonlight. I could feel a cold glare watching my every step, but as I looked back my cousin stood with a smile on her face. And everyone else had come out from their hiding waved goodbye as I left in a steady pace. Leaving them behind I looked at Moonlight with a stern expression.
“Why did we have to go? They were just helping me” I said to her with a huff. She turned her head toward me slightly looking at me for a moment before looking forward again. Almost as if she was saying Are you really that dense?
“Fine. I’m trusting you Moonlight so just take us where you think its best” no sooner were the words out of my mouth that she raced forward. I only had a moment to hold on, watching everything as we passed the shapes turning into blurs. For some time we rode in silence the steady sound of her hooves could be heard.
Eventually we made it to a place where a stone castle could be seen and below it lay the murky blue black lake. I didn’t even have time to ask why we were there when the sound of glass shattering brought my attention. A figure fell into the lake eventually coming out and the shouts of what sounded like Lionel could be heard.
The person came into view with a look of astonishment I saw it was none other than Colin. He looked so worn down and tired I was upset with him but it didn’t mean I wanted this to happen. I could see pieces of glass in his skin and blood slowly dripping, his steps were slow and weak.
“D-Diana” was all he managed to croak before he collapsed into my arms. I slowly lowered him down and see which of his injuries needed the most attending to. The only one that seemed more serious than the others was a large gash on his left arm. Ripping off a strip of cloth from the bottom of my dress I tended to his wound. I had just finished cleaning the wound, when his right arm clasped onto my hand. I tried to move his hand but his grip remained firm.
“Don’t... go. Don’t... leave.... me” he whispered. I looked at him in shock but his eyes remained closed. Had I really hurt him that much when I said we were no longer friends? I wiped away the tears that threatened to spill. I looked at him sleeping almost peacefully. My heart skipped a beat and my chest hurt. What was I feeling? What was happening to me?
