Chapter 9: Awake

As I slowly opened my eyes the blurred image in front of me began focus and kneeling in front of me was Lionel. I couldn’t remember a lot of things but I could remember plenty for example I was going to marry Lionel.

“Lionel what’s happened I can’t remember some things” with a gentle smile he placed a cool hand on my forehead.

“You hit your head while you were riding Moonlight” he said as he picked me up gently. I felt so safe in his arms all the pain I felt dulled.

“But I have to tell you some bad news Diana and it won’t sit well” my heart wrenched as he told me everything.

When he finished speaking I couldn’t believe my ears Colin my best friend had done so much evil just so I wouldn’t marry Lionel.

As my tears silently fell I saw two horses approaching with their masters with worried looks on their faces.

My eyes widened as I realized who one of them was it was Colin. I quickly hid behind Lionel too upset to look at Colin.

Getting down from his horse he tried to reach me but Lionel stood up for me blocking his path “I need to talk with Diana” he said.

With a scowl Lionel roughly pushed him away “Lionel I wish to speak with Colin in private” I said a my voice shook.

Leaving with the young woman that had come with Colin, Lionel left us alone.

Colin grinned as he looked at me but when he saw my face he stopped, he cleared his throat just as he was about to speak I cut him off.

“Lionel told me everything and I was shocked at what he told me” looking at me warily he sighed.

“He told you all the evil things he has done to you” I looked at him in disgust “How can you say that about him?”

“You’re the one that went and asked the help of a pagan and used sorcery a heathenous thing to stop me from marrying him” he looked at me in shock.

“I did none of that” he said trying his best to convince me the otherwise.

“You destroyed our friendship Colin. I hate you! Te odio!” and I ran away from him.

I got on Moonlight before leaving in a gallop. How could my best friend have done it all? I thought he truly cared about me.

But as I left them all I saw several eyes stare at me almost glowing menacingly. And one of them left the dense underbrush.

I stopped. I was staring face to face with a girl who looked exactly like me. Same height, build, lavender eyes, and black hair. "Hello Diana it's good to see you cousin" said the girl with a smile.
