7:17 am | Apartment C32 | North Carolina | September 24
linny ,
do you ever wish you could get away? i do, all the time. i think that's why i came out here. why i fell in love with the university. being out here is like my getaway from home. the only downfall has been my lack of sleep. i miss you so much. please come home.
luke.i put my pen down and rubbed my hands over my face. these last few weeks i haven't been able to sleep considering the apartment below me has music blaring twenty four seven.
i decided to take matters into my own hands and confront her since no one else will.
i trudged down the flight of stairs before walking up to the door labeled B16. i could hear someone singing loudly and it sounded like a girl. the voice almost sounded familiar.
no matter, i knocked on the door multiple times before the music finally shut off. i rocked back and forth on my heels as i heard footsteps nearing the door. my eyes widened when i was greeted by a brunette with piercing blue eyes.
"what can i do for you?" she mumbled, looking up from her phone. instantly her eyes widened and we both smiled.
"lindy!"
"luke!"
we hugged each other for a minute before pulling back. i couldn't believe she was really here. i haven't seen her in a few months and who would've thought she'd end up here?
"what are you doing almost two thousand miles away?" i asked before accepting her invitation inside.
"i needed something new and i guess this was it." she smiled and walked to look out her sliding glass door. "it's so beautiful here and i really hope i can make something of myself."
i nodded at her response. her apartment walls had a few pictures of her and her best friend ashton scattered here and there. there were also some of her family, mostly her sisters. i remember meeting them and how quickly they warmed up to lindys new friend. my favorite was always mary. she reminded of her sister but in a smaller, positive form. lindy could have a temper here and there, but she always seemed relatively happy.
"do you have plans for college luke? oh what am i saying of course you do mr. valedictorian." lindy shook her head and smiled slightly.
"yeah, i actually started classes earlier in august. do you have plans?"
she responded with a small no and rubbed her hands up and down her arms. i watched her eyes scan the pictures on her walls and suddenly they went from piercing blue to an almost gray color. before i could try to figure out what she was thinking, i saw a single tear slip from her eye.
she wiped it away quickly before turning to me.
"is everything okay lindy?"
"i'm just feeling a bit tired. i think it's time for me to go to bed."
"of course." i nodded, walking to the door. "it was nice to see you again. don't be a stranger, okay?"
she nodded and sent me a small smile before i waved goodbye and she closed the door. i walked only a few footsteps before i heard quiet sobs coming from her apartment.
i really hope she's okay.
