thanksgiving went a lot better than expected. mom even invited dad and his new fiancé. everyone seemed to enjoy each others company and we had a lot to catch up on. luke and i would give each other small glances across the table. i was sure no one noticed, but julia doesn't miss a thing.

"so, you and luke?" julia asked wiggling her eyebrows.

i rolled my eyes before putting my plate in the dishwasher. "what about it?"

"nothing, just seems like there's something between you." she shrugged.

"well, maybe there is." i smiled. "we've been together for a while now."

julia's face lit up and her smile stretched from ear to ear. she cheered loudly, saying that her 'little sister' finally had a boyfriend. i rolled my eyes and told her to keep quiet because i wasn't sure if he wanted people to know. although, i already knew its hard for him to keep anything from his mom, so i'm sure jenny knew.

we finished up in the kitchen before joining the family in the living room. my moms face was bright as she saw us and i couldn't help but notice luke's small smile as he saw me. he's so gorgeous, i am beyond lucky to have him in my life.

julia sat next to calum and i sat on the other side of her which was across from luke. he gave me a pouty lip for not sitting next to him but i just rolled my eyes. jenny and my mom were in an intense conversation about life at the office and our dads were intently watching the tv.

i sighed and decided to leave. i told calum and julia i was going on the patio for some fresh air and they agreed to come with.

"i forgot that it's still pretty warm out here this late." i chuckled to myself and the blond and brunette did too.

"is north carolina absolutely wonderful? i've heard good things, but never been." julia wondered.

"it's really nice. i love it and the people are super genuine." i smiled to myself, thinking about my friends and luke.

"hey luke!" calum smiled as the blond opened the sliding door. "how's school been."

"it's been good, yeah. i've had a lot of fun, met a pretty girl who lives in my apartment building." luke smirked referring to me.

out of the corner of my eye i could see julia trying to hold back a smile. i rolled my eyes at his sly comment and leaned back in my chair, listening to their conversation.

"oh, yeah? is she a total banger?" calum asked with a smirk. my eyes grew wide and julia laughed at his comment while luke became uncomfortable. "dude, relax. i know you're seeing my baby sister." calum chuckled patting luke on the back.

i glared at julia for telling him but then shrugged. some things you just can't keep quiet about.

"well, it's perfect you're both together because it will make walking down the aisle a lot less awkward." julia giggled and my eyes widened.

"at our wedding of course." calum added and we all laughed.

the night went on and we talked and laughed. for the longest time home had been something i dreaded. now, sitting here with some of the best people, home was something i loved. it's incredible being surrounded with so much happiness and recovery.

by the time we had decided to go in it began to rain and it was just short of two. i sighed as i put my toothpaste on my toothbrush. after brushing my teeth i found my gray scrunchy and tied my hair up into a messy bun.

i sauntered into my old room and flipped on the light switch, shocked to see luke laying on my bed. i smiled to myself before turning off the light and crawling next to him.

he rubbed his eyes and smiled when he saw me. i couldn't help but return a small one. "lindy. you're so beautiful."

his voice was soft and relaxing. he made my insides melt with the slightest touch. his eyes knew the darkest parts of my soul. luke knew me better than i knew myself. he was perfect.

"you're perfect, luke. so unbelievably perfect." i sighed touching his cheek. "thank you for being here."

"thank you for being mine." luke whispered and kissed my forehead before pulling me to his chest.

and soon i found myself in a slumber.
it was a peaceful night with no nightmares or sadness.
it was the first time in four months that i felt at peace.
