-Anthony's POV-

I couldn't believe what just had happened. I saw those lights. I knew they were coming towards us a little too fast. But I didn't do anything about it - I couldn't. It was almost like I was in a trance. And instead of loosening up on the gas or hitting the break, I pushed down on the gas even further. The next I know, we're colliding with the lights.

The next I know, I'm waking up to a sticky, blood-covered steering wheel not an inch from my face and glass falling from my hair. I struggled to sit up and turn my head to the right, only to see Kalel not there. I looked behind me and saw that Skylar and Ian were still there, but they weren't awake yet. And I didn't know if they'd ever be.

I kicked open the dinged-up car door and got out, only to fall flat on the slightly-heated tarmac. I looked down and saw that my ankle was twisted. I was barely able to get to my feet, and when I did, I could barely stand up. Despite how much pain I was in, I started searching the vicinity for my girlfriend. I tried calling her name - no response. I tried calling her on her cellphone on mine, where the screen was cracked this way and that - still no response. I couldn't find her anywhere.

After about fifteen minutes of limping in circles, I returned to the wreck. As I was about to call for help on my phone, I heard a faint female voice from inside the car, "Ian?"

I rushed up to Skylar's door and swung it open. I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out of the car. She was trembling with fear as I pulled her into a tight hug - lucky that someone besides me made it.

I began to check how badly she was injured, which fortunately, she wasn't injured much at all. Only a few cuts and scrapes. I had it a little worse, with a gash on my cheek and my most likely broken ankle. She asked me if Ian was...you know. I didn't know. I wasn't sure. Then she asked where Kalel was. Same answer. I didn't know. I couldn't find her. That's when the car ignited into flames, and I pulled her into my arms protectively.

"Why?" I could hear Skylar ask through the tears and the explosions of the car as the fire engulfed the car completely, "Why did this have to happen?"

I didn't know why. Everything was going great last night. The four of us spent the entire day together - going to the amusement park, going to the beach, and driving down the empty streets at top speed. It was the best day ever. Until that terrible accident. Yeah, that's what it was...an accident. "Accidents happen," Is what I told her vaguely.

"Not like this one," She responded coldly, glancing back at me, "Not like this one."

My phone died right as I was about to call for help, so Skylar and I started walking in the direction we came in. It had been hours and we weren't even close to home. My feet hurt, my ankle killed. It was hot out, my t-shirt was drenched in sweat. I was starving, I hadn't eaten since yesterday afternoon. I'm almost positive Skylar felt the same way.

"I need to take a break," I told her as I limped over to the railing and sat down. She sat down beside me.

"What do we do when we get back?" Skylar asked me, "Act like none of this ever happened?"

I chuckled, "I don't think that's an option."

"Then what are we going to do?"

I shrugged my shoulders as I examined my ankle, "I don't know if there's much we can do. We can't tell anyone, they won't believe us."

"Someone's got to," She murmured as she tilted her head down, her hair creating a barrier so I couldn't see her face.

"What if this wasn't an accident, Sky?" I proposed. She glanced over at me, "What if someone wanted us to die?"

"But we didn't," She retorted, "I mean, we're here right now. Kalel...she could still be out there. And Ian...he...he..." She covered her face as she began to sob for the fifth time since we left the scene, not being able to finish her sentence. We know he died. There's no way that he could've possibly survived that fire.

"If I'm right," I continued, "We've got to stick together, Sky. I don't want to lose anyone else."

She looked up at me with the slightest bit of hope before resting her head on my chest, "I don't want to lose anyone else either."

I would never admit this to anyone, not even Ian, but I kind of have liked Skylar for a long time. Ever since Kalel introduced me to her a few years back when we were in high school, sophomore year. Her long, blonde hair. Her soft brown eyes. Her gorgeous smile. But I couldn't break up with Kalel, she was too sensitive and I knew if I did that, Kalel wouldn't be the only one walking away. I hate to say this, but I couldn't help but think that this was finally my chance with her, with no one to hurt.

-Kalel's POV-

I arrived at the scene, only to see firetrucks and ambulances surrounding the scene. I rushed up to the yellow tape and saw that the car I drove in last night was burnt to a crisp. The paint had chipped off and the metal frame was bent and contorted. I noticed that the firemen were pulling something, or should I say someone, out of the car.

"Is that you?" I asked Ian, who had followed me here and stood by my side.

"If you mean Ian's body, then yes," He answered, crossing his arms over his chest, "Remember, I'm not Ian. Only a mere reflection of him."

"That's terrible..." I murmured as a wave of sadness washed over me, ignoring the question in the back of my head of who he really was. "Were Skylar and Anthony in that car too?" I dared to question.

He shook his head no, "They got away." I sighed in relief, "But unlike you, they're pretty hurt. I don't know how long they'll last out there..." The man remarked casually. I looked over at him in shock, "What? I'm just here to help you along the way. I'm not here to sugar coat what's going to happen."

"You know what's going to happen!?!" I screamed at him, angry he didn't share this with me before. He remained silent, and his silence said it, "Then tell me what's going to happen. What do I have to do?"

"I can't," Ian's reflection retorted, "I may be here as assistance, Kalel, but you're the one who has to save your friends. Not me."

I rolled my eyes and started to walk in the direction we came from. They've got to be this way, right?
