Chapter 31- The Culprits
"So what you got for me?" I asked Adrian, as we stepped into the cafeteria lunch line. Harry was meeting up with us after he switched out his textbooks. The cheerleaders weren't getting lunch today and waiting for me in the gym. I bit my lip hoping that what I was planning would work. It was a tricky idea and I just hoped that everyone would go for it.
"Well you were right, it was Lindsey who set you guys up, but she wasn't alone I know that. She only told me how she was involved and promised to tell me who the other person was if I helped her get back in favor with some of the school socially important. Aka you. So, of course I said yes. After that she practically admitted everything to me, once I told her that I'd try to get you guys to let her be part of the cheerleading squad again." He replied, as we shuffled forward in the line.
"We'll let her be part of the squad for sure, that's all part of the plan. But who was her accomplice? I'll be civil with her and keep up your bargain, but I need to know who helped her" I sighed.
"She said it was Izzy."
I gaped at him in shock. Izzy. Izzy had actually helped Lindsey ruin the chances of the cheerleaders going to regionals? And she said I was the one that's changed a lot. "Oh is she going to regret that." I mumbled, trying to process the information.
"You do have a little devious mind in there don't you Kenz." He acknowledged.
"No, I just don't think it's right that she tried to sabotage us after all that's been going on this year. Honestly what did you see in her... Never mind." I shook my head.
"Well I mean you can't say much since Izzy was involved too... But you know she's a girl, I'm a guy..."
"I got it, that's why I said never mind 'Drian." I rolled my eyes.
We reached the front of the fried rice line and Adrian got himself a small container, before passing me another one. I took it and followed him to the lunch lady who rushed us to put in our numbers, trying to get through the long line as fast as possible. I grabbed myself a fortune cookie and a plastic fork, before craning my head around to see if Harry had made it into the cafeteria yet.
Unfortunately, he wasn't in here yet so I couldn't tell him about the whole Izzy revelation, but I did notice a few people looking at Adrian in confusion, probably wondering how we'd come so far to be actually having a civil conversation. I shrugged and pulled out my phone and saw three missed called from Izzy and about 5 text messages. I ignored them and texted Harry to meet us all at the gym and that I would give him some of my fried rice since he wouldn't get time for lunch this way.
"Well Ms. Bad Girl, let's go help you live up to this reputation." Adrian laughed, gesturing for me to head out of the cafeteria. I rolled my eyes, putting my phone away and heading to the gym, ignoring the curious looks that followed Adrian and I out. Some people at this school truly never learn.
