A cold hand dragged me out of the mud, but why? I would probably be better off dead to the world. In reaction I quickly closed my eyes, the breathing sounded female a young woman probably. She must of thought I was a lost kid and tried to save me. Typical.

In a few seconds she'd realise and run away, into the safety of another human. How I wished to join her. But instead of running, she pressed her ear on my chest.

A breath of relief, with realisation of what she was doing, I twitched an arm. I didn't dare open my eyes, just a glance and she'd realise what I was, a beast. I had missed this in a long time, companionship since Gre... I shot up, and gripped her tightly through tears.

I haven't even seen her, let alone know her. This is wrong.
I quickly broke off and opened my eyes, expecting her to flee, but she didn't.

Instead, this time she threw her arms around me.

"I missed you Wirt." What? She knew me? Wirt... was that my name? She thought it was, so it might of been. I quickly scanned her face through her arms, Black hair shimmered in the moonlight. Beautiful.

Her image was comforting, familiar even, and it came rushing back, I was suddenly more alert and conscience than had been in a year.

"L-l... " My voice was raspy and strained. The Beast was the only person who ever talked to me mostly in my head, so I rarely felt the need to speak. This, however resulted in inability to speak.

"Lorna. Thank you." She just nodded, breaking the hug between us, Lorna settled on holding my hand. I finally got the chance to take a proper look at her face.

She was warmer and her skin looked much better than the first time I met her. Lorna suddenly let out a small giggle, quickly suppressing it. What was she laughing at? Wait. My face! My face was turning red with blush!

She pulled me up, "Come, we shall go to Auntie Whisper's."

I can't believe it. After a year of darkness, despair and loneliness I finally found company. This couldn't last long.

"Lorna, wait. I can't follow you. I'm sorry." Towards the end of the sentence my voice trailed off, words almost whispers. "Why can't thou?" Lorna looked heartbroken, with her pleading brown eyes.
"I-I'm a monster? I think I am."

Silence. After a moment of puzzlement, she gripped my hand tighter, worried I'd leave. Lorna led me into the house and did a double check to see if I was real. "Auntie, we have a guest!"

Auntie whispers majestically and slowly, downed the stairs to Lorna. After Auntie Whispers lifted her head to see me, she flinched at my presence. "Beast! He has been corrupted, by the beast!"

Then the door broke open.
