Epilogue
I'm home after five long years, I'm finally home. It feels nice to be in a familiar place. Almost everything stayed the same; the only things that changed was that I'm older and instead of moving away, I'm moving back in.
I've finally saved up enough money to get my own place here to move into. It's not like I hate Singapore (I love Singapore so much that I now consider the place my second home). It's just that I miss home and the people here.
"Ready for our first date?" Austin asked me as he entwined his fingers with mine.
"After what? Five years?" I answered back with a little laugh.
"Hey! We had a ton of Skype dates over those five years. Don't make me look so bad," he tried to defend himself.
I just stayed quiet and walked out of our home. Yup, I said OUR home. To tell you the truth, Austin was the one who gave me the idea to move back home. He was joking about telling me to move back but I went and asked my mum and she said I could move back if I had my own money to live on. Once I told Austin that I was serious about moving back, he asked me to move in with him (and of course I said yes). We both saved up money to get a decent house for us to move into. Five years apart and now we're living under the same roof.
*
Our first date was amazing. I will remember this date forever.
Austin took us to our old shed and we just hung out like old times. That shed holds a lot of memories for me; for us. My dad help built it, most of my time in my childhood was spent in here, I confessed to Austin here and I became Austin's girlfriend here. Most of my important memories were made here.
"Hey A," I called for Austin in a soft voice.
"Yes," he replied in a sleepy and tired voice.
I slowly sat up from my lying position to face him and said, "I should have told you that I liked you a long time ago."
"Liked? As in past tensed?" his tired, sleepy vice suddenly became alert and panicked.
"Yup, as in past tensed," I said in a serious voice. "That's because now, I. LOVE. YOU." I continued making sure that I emphasise every word.
He smiled like an idiot and leaned in closer to me to whisper something into my ear.
"I love you too Madison Anne-Grace Lee. I love you so much."
