Define Oblivious

Chapter 8

Maya's alarm clock went off but she was still sleeping like a rock. Then Lucas bursts through her door and jumps on her bed.
Maya sits straight up and says,"I'm Up." Then she giggles.
Ever since Lucas and Maya have became closer Lucas picks and wakes up Maya for school every morning. Lucas waits in the kitchen while Maya gets ready for school. It only takes her 20 minutes or so.
As her new routine, she jumps on Lucas's back and then he carries her to school. Maya and Lucas had every class together. Maya was thankful that her Riley didn't have that many classes together.
At the beginning of the year it was a bad thing but now it's a wonderful thing. Once they arrived at school, Maya and Lucas went to their lockers which were right next to each other because of their first and last names.
Maya had grabbed her books and was waiting on Lucas.
"You ready Huckleberry?" Maya asked Lucas.
"Yeah Shortstack." Lucas responded as he closed his locker.
They walked together to their least favorite class, Math.
Lucas always had to keep Maya awake but he struggled to keep himself awake sometimes.
After they got done with the rest of their classes for the first two blocks, it was time for history.
The class with Riley and Matthews.
Maya was nervous and Lucas could tell so he just casually put his arm around her to calm her down and it worked.
They walked in and took their regular seats. Riley in front of Maya-Maya Next to Farkle and Farkle in front of Lucas. Maya sensed a panic attack coming on.
She started breathing heavily and tears started streaming down her face. The only person that knew about Maya's panic attacks was Lucas.
Cory dismissed Maya to the nurse and the panic attack was getting worse. Riley telling her to shut up didn't help.
Lucas raised his hand and asked if he could go with her.
He was dismissed and led Maya to the nurse.
When they got their the nurse asked him,"What's wrong with her?"
"She has panic attacks sometimes she just needs to be in peace." Lucas explained.
"Take her home and try to calm her down. Both of you are excused for the day." The nurse said sorrowful.
Lucas led Maya back to herself while she was still breathing heavily. When they walked in the door at Maya's house Katy was obviously drunk and was making out with someone on the couch. Maya's panic attack got worse at the sight, so Lucas decided to take her to the park across the street that had doves and other peaceful things. Lucas sat down with Maya's head laying on his lap gradually breathing better. Maya just started crying after the panic attack was over. Lucas just caressed her face while she was trying to calm down. Maya sat straight up and hugged Lucas really tight and buried her head in his neck. "Thank you." Maya said through tears.
