Listen
Doo dah doo
Do you want to know a secret
Doo dah doo
Do you promise not to tell
Oh oh oh oh closerDoo dah doo
Let me whisper in your ear
Doo dah doo
All the words you want to hear
I'm in love with you
Ooh ooh ooh ooh oohI am prone to bursting into song seemily at random or when I'm having trouble expressing what exactly I'm trying to say. Now you'd think this would make people stay away from me thinking 'what's with this wierd chick?' but no it doesn't. Appearantly they're okay with it so long as you're a good enough singer and the music choice is similar to theirs. Sadly, it is and I am. But other times, like today, its something old like The Beatles or Frank Sinatra so only a few people were crowding me today.
If I fell in love with you
Would you promise to be true
And help me understand
Because I've been in love before
And I found that love was more
Than just holding handsIf I give my heart to you
I must be sure
From the very start
That you would love me more than herIf I trust in you oh please
Don't run and hide
If I love you too oh please
Don't hurt my pride like her
'Cause I couldn't stand the pain
And I would be sad if our new love
Was in vainSo I hope you see that I
Would love to love you
And that she would cry
When she learns we are two
Because I couldn't stand the pain
And I would be sad if our new love
Was in vainSo I hope you see that I
Would love to love you
And that she would cry
When she learns we are two
If I fell in love with youI hummed the ending tune and swung my hand that was joined with Adam's. When I finished the last note Adam said,
"The beginning sounded nice and all but the end seemed a bit, um, vindictive."
I nodded "I think the way it was written was like in the wedding singer."
"Where he was with someone at the start then they broke up?"
"No, like he needed to write a love song and he just like oh, okay but then he got into it and started writing his heart out." Adam looked at me, down at our hands, and back at me before turning his head forward to see where I was taking him.
"Sweetheart, that's nothing the wedding singer but I see where you drew your parallel. So, where are we going?" He asked as he waved to a friend driving off somewhere.
"To the park." I chirped slowing down as a slow song started playing in my head. Like I always do, I pulled Adam into a sort of traveling dance as I sang the words to La Vie En Rose.
Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is La Vie En RoseWhen you kiss me heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see La Vie En RoseWhen you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloomAnd when you speak...angels sing from above
Everyday words seem...to turn into love songsGive your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La Vie En RoseAs I sang the last word a clap from a pair walking behind us burst into my post song cloud.
I turned to face them, Adam once again trying to hide behind my five foot frame. I don't know why, he's easily six foot three and twice as wide as me but I know he's embarrassed by the attention.
"That was wonderful." A silver haired old lady said, smiling at me.
"Thank you." I said, matching her smile.
"Where did you learn to sing so well dear? And why haven't I seen you on TV or heard you on the radio?" Her companion, a greying dark haired slightly younger lady, asked. I blushed and pulled Adam's arm around me as a sort of protection against the questions.
"I just love music and was blessed with the ability to listen to it even when it's not playing. I just sing to listen, not for any other reason."
Adam kissed the top of my head and I looked up to see his eyes twinkling down at me. I smiled at him, lost in the glow but was brought back to reality when the pair giggled.
"That's truly amazing." Silver hair said, linking her arm with grey hair, "well, we'll leave you two lovebirds alone then. Have a nice day!"
I smiled madly and giggled when Adam ducked his head into my neck to hide his furious blush. After years of denying it he finally asked me out and of course I said yes. Today marks the third day of a relationship five years in the making.
I turned around in his arms to frame his face with my hands.
Wise man says
only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you.I rose on my tiptoes to kiss his nose then pulled away, taking his hand in mine and pulling him to the park where I ran into him all those years ago.
At last
My love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a songOh yeah yeah
At lastThe skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at youI found a dream, that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never knownOh yeah yeah
You smiled, you smiled
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine...At Last
