It felt like everything was clicking into place and also falling apart at the same time. There's only one person in the world who calls me Atty. A man that shouldn't be here, a coward who ran away instead of fighting. In front of me was Nikolas Doss. My former partner in the FBI. The person who left me alone in the field and never came back. My partner who decided his freedom was worth my life.

"Atty? Are you ok? Can you say something please?" Nikolas started walking toward me as if to help me. His moving snapped me back to reality. I put my hands up to stop him from coming any closer.

"How dare you." I softly said. "How dare you try and act like things are normal! Don't you dare come near me right now! YOU LEFT!" I started yelling, I could feel my emotions rising up. "You left me behind! You ran away! You chose your freedom over my life! You were supposed to have my back! You left me in the middle of a mission and never came back! So how dare you?" I was seeing red. I was so angry he tried to just waltz back in like it was normal. All I could see were flashbacks of that mission going wrong. From the moment he was no longer by my side everything went wrong.

"Atty." He started. I glared at him.

"You no longer get to call me that. You lost that right as soon as you walked away and left me for dead." I growled at him.

"Athena, I'm sorry, I thought you were with me on the plan to leave. I thought you knew I wanted to leave the program, we fantasize about getting out. I should have made it more clear what I was going to do. I didn't realize you stayed behind. I should have made sure you made it out with me." He tried to explain. I just scoffed. I went to speak but the bitch beat me to it.

"Niky, what is going on here? What do you mean leave the program and take her with you? What are you two going on about? How do you know her?" Lyla cut in and seemed to get really possessive. "How do you know this freak?" Nikolas flipped his head towards her and glared.

"Watch it, Lyla. I've known her longer than anyone here." He warned and turned back to me.

"Come on dude how do you know her? Just tell us." The blonde-haired boy said fishing for information. He seemed more curious than possessive, unlike Lyla, who was getting more and more impatient by the second.

"Chris, chill. I've known her for years. We met when we were 15 and recruits for my dad. We went through training together. I was her partner until I came here. My dad is, was, I'm not sure which, her boss." Nicholi explained as he looked from the two of them to me for further explanation.

"Is." I clarified. "I just got promoted to the UCYBGP." I smiled thinking about my promotion.

"Well I still don't trust her and I don't want either of you near her. Understand?" Lyla demanded trying to stake her claim on the two boys in the room.

"Hunny," I started sarcastically, "If I wanted Nikolas, which by the way ew, I could have had him years ago. I don't want your sloppy leftovers. I'm not that kind of bitch, but you seem to be." I smirked, starting and ending a verbal war with her.

"Athena! Lyla! Enough!" Nikolas stood between the two of us. "Lyla, I think of Athena like a sister. You will not tell me who I can and cannot hang out with. Athena, Lyla is my girlfriend, please at minimum tolerate her."

"Fine!" I snarled. "Just know, if you mess with me again, I will not play nice." I walked up to Nikolas, ripped my phone from his hands, brushed by the two of them with force, and walked into my room. Nikolas looked like he wanted to follow me but decided against it once I glared at him. I shut my door and could hear him trying to console Lyla. I ignored them and decided to look at my files.

As I shut my door I opened my phone to check my secure files to make sure they didn't get into them. Thankfully they didn't get near my files. As I opened the files for my next assignment to review them again, someone knocked on my door.

"I do not want to see you Nikolas." I yelled out.

"It's not Nicholi, It's Chris. Can I come in?" I heard through my door. It seemed like he just wanted to talk, there was no underlying tone in his voice.

"Fine, come on in." I said while securing my files again.

"Hey." Chis said walking into my room. "So that was intense. I figured since Lyla was playing the victim card, I would come check on you. Are you ok?" He asked, concern written on his face. Again it seemed like he just wanted to make sure I was ok.

"Nikolas didn't send you in here did he?" I asked, trying to cover my bases, I didn't want to tell him anything if he was here for Nikolas.

"No, he is too busy trying to placate his girlfriend to even notice I left the room. I doubt we will see either one for a few hours." He said slightly sad yet slightly amused.

"Well then, yeah, I'm ok. It was just a lot to take in, ya know? Nikolas used to be my partner and he left. It was hard to take in. We were as close as siblings and he left. I am just having a hard time processing him being back in my life." I said sitting on my bed. I gestured towards my desk for him to sit down.

"That makes sense. I'm sorry you are feeling overwhelmed. Is there anything I can help you with?" He asked, smiling a little bit.

"Yeah, actually there is. I'm here on assignment, but my boss didn't send over a picture because the school is refusing to cooperate, even though they continuously work with my department. I need to find a student. Can you help me?" I smiled back

"Yeah sure, who is your assignment?" He laughed a little bit at the change in topic. "This isn't what I meant by help you but I'm sure I can help you find them."

"Oh, well I don't usually bear my burdens with someone I just met." I smiled and winked at him. "I need to know someone better than that to tell them my darkest secrets." I jokingly stated.

"Well I guess I will just need to stick around then, now who are you looking for?" He slyly stated. I smiled and signaled for him to turn around so I could unlock my files without him seeing. He did and sighed.

"Ok so his name is Prince Christopher Douglas Langston, the crown prince of Dolan." Chris looked up at me in surprise.

"Are you shitting me?" He asked seriously.

"No, why?" I looked at him, getting suspicious. He looked unhappy.

"I am Prince Christopher Douglas Langston, the crown prince of Dolan. And I cannot believe my family hired you to find me. Why do you need to find me exactly?" He asked frustrated.

"Well the UCYBGP is the Undercover Youth Bodyguard Program. Meaning I will be your bodyguard. Your parents do not expect any trouble but they wish for you to be safe, Your Highness, and I am sorry for the informal way I have been speaking to you previously." I calmly stated knowing I may have screwed up by slightly flirting with my charge.

"Please just call me Chris. And no need to be formal. I enjoy our banter. My parents love to try and control everything I do and I guess this is just another way to do so. But I mean it, please don't go all serious on me." He smiled. "I guess I need to get used to having you around, huh?" He smirked, trying to get me to play along.

"Well then, I guess so. Just a heads up you will be getting one more guard, a guy. Someone who can go into bathrooms, locker rooms and stay in your room with you. Seeing as I am a girl and cannot do those things. I'm sorry it seems so invasive." I scrunched my nose at the thought of someone following me around all day too.

"Well as long as I get to spend most of my time with you, I guess I am ok with it." He smiled. Just as I was about to reply my phone rang. It was my boss.

"Can you give me a few minutes? I need to take this, It's my boss." I smiled at him, hoping to convey that I didn't really want him to leave but I needed to take this.

"Yeah sure. See you out there?" He asked, pointing to my living room. I nodded in confirmation as I went to take the call.
