"Yes Sir, what can I do for you?" I answered as soon as my door shut.
"Well, it seems as if the school is refusing to provide a picture still, so tomorrow be on the lookout for the one person you are in every class with. We still do not know what the Prince looks like. Once you figure it out let me know. The other thing is we still do not have a male partner for you so it is a possibility you may need to spend a few nights in his room until we find a partner for you."
"Yes, Sir. I understand what needs to be done. Also, Sir, I already figured out who he is. He showed up in my suite with my roommate and..." I trailed off.
"And?" my boss demanded. "Who else is in your room Agent Carson?"
"Well, sir. Its uh, its..." I got cut off
"Who is it, Agent?" He started getting more and more stern.
"Sir, It's Nikolas." I managed to get out before he blew up.
"What about him, Agent? You know my son is off-limits." Director Doss stated.
"Sir, the other person in my suite. It's Nikolas. I found him." I clarified my earlier statement. All that could be heard from the other end was silence. "Sir? Are you ok?"
"Get him on the phone now." was the strangled reply coming from the other end of the line.
"Yes sir," I started walking out of the room. The only one in the living room was Christopher. "Your Highness, have you seen Lyla and Nikolas? I need to speak to Nikolas." I pointed to the phone, hoping to signal why I was being formal with him.
"Yes, last I saw he was in Lyla's room with him." He responded while giving me a confused look. I walked up to Lyla's door and knocked.
"Nikolas get your ass out here. Director Doss is on the phone for you." I yelled through the door. Shuffling could be heard coming from the other side. Nikolas opened the door.
"What the hell, you told him about me?" He looked angry.
"Yes, now talk with your father." I said quickly, putting my phone in his hand and running towards my room. As I passed Chris, I grabbed his arm and pulled him into my room with me.
"Get back here Athena Marie!" Nikolas could be seen running through the living room.
"Quickly help me!" I giggled and slammed my door closed while throwing all my body weight against it to prevent it from opening. Chris seemed to jump into action, also slamming his body against the door. We could feel Nikolas trying to get in. "You can give me my phone back after you talk with your dad."
"Fine, but I will get you back for this!" Nikolas yelled. He could be heard walking away. I turned to look at Chris. He and I just stared at each other before bursting out laughing. I moved away from the door and sat on my bed.
"What just happened?" Chris said as he sat at my desk.
"Well, I may or may not have just forced Nikolas to talk with his dad for the first time since he left." I said breathlessly. "And then I dragged you in here so you could help me barricade the door."
"Well, it seems to have worked. Though I am not sure how it worked." he chuckled softly at the end.
"I'm not sure myself, but I am glad it did." I smiled at him.
"So, now what? Think we could make it out of here and to the Cafe for dinner? " he asked, looking between me and the door.
"Well, we can try. I could eat." I smiled. "Just let me grab my stuff." I grabbed my wallet and my purse with a holster in it. I decided against using my belt holster because it's too obvious. As I moved my gun, badge, and wallet into my purse there was a knock on the door.
"Come in!" The door opened to reveal Nikolas and Lyla. I held out my hand for my phone. "What can I do for you?"
"Here. Thank you so much for putting me on the line with that man." Nikolas said sarcastically as he handed me my phone. "It was wonderful getting my ass chewed out." He smirked at me.
"What's that look for?" I asked suspiciously, wondering what was up.
"Well, it seems since I never officially left... I am technically still an agent... and my dad just made me your partner again." The smug look overtaking his face.
"Really. You sure you won't bail in the middle of this mission and leave me for dead again?" I was irritated.
"Atty, come on... It happened once." He tried to plead with me as if he hadn't done what he did.
"No, do not try that with me. I don't know if I can trust you after what you did." I started getting heated.
"Athena, let's just get out of here." Chris grabbed my arm and whispered into my ear. For some reason, the sound of his voice calmed me down. I just wanted to escape. I looked back at him and nodded.
"Fine." I gritted out, grabbing my bag and walking out of the room without looking back.
"Atty you need to inform me where you are going! I am your partner and Chris is my charge too!" Nicholi called after me. I froze on the spot and whipped around to face him.
"Agent Doss I do not need to inform you of anything. You are not my superior officer. You, in fact, are below me. I am your superior officer. This is my case. I am the lead on this and if you take it from me just because you use your daddy's power I will never forgive you, I will quit the FBI and move laterally. You know I can. So just stop trying to control everything and leave me the hell alone."
"Yes Ma'am." he sarcastically said. "Clearly you are 'in charge' here. Have fun failing your mission." He smirked at me. "Chris, I wouldn't get too close to her, if you know what's good for you."
"Dude, you might want to shut the fuck up, if you know what's good for you," Chris said walking up to me. "Let's go, Athena. No need to stick around here since he is only here for nighttime and bathroom duty." Chris lightly grabbed my arm and led me to the door.
"Your right, let's get out of here for a little. Yeah?" I smiled at Chris and we walked to the parking lot. Chris led me to a Grey 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. I whistled. "I am impressed!"
"Yeah?" he asked, looking at me shocked.
"Yeah. I love trucks. I've always wanted one. Had to give my car up before moving here, it was a company car though so hopefully I can get a new one here." I smiled at him. He walked over to the passenger side and opened the door.
"Well then, up you go. I'm taking you for a ride!" He said, smirking. I laughed and jumped into the truck.
"Well thank you!" He closed the door, walked to the other side, and climbed in.
"Where to?" He asked as we drove out of the lot.
