The Bearer's POV
As we exited the building I looked back once to see a sign that read "Sequoia Elementary" with a few bloody handprints on the glass. I shivered and turned away. We walked for what felt like hours only to collapse in a park. "We'll only rest for a sec, then we'll keep moving." The girl who I hugged spoke out in such a leader like voice. I blindly trust her. I won't even care if she's a serial killer or something. She seems nice and that's all that matters. Not really, but you know what I mean. After a short nap, they wake me and we move on. We go down plenty of desolate and bare roads. When did all this happen? Currently I am walking in the center of us all, right next to the only guy. Poor bastard. We're standing close enough for our arms to barely brush against each other. I get uncomfortable and take a step away from him. He doesn't make any signs of getting closer or moving from his general spot in our little squad thing.
"So you really don't remember anything?" He finally speaks up, but just barely audible enough for only me to hear. I look at him with an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, but I really don't." He sighs and looks at me. "Do you remember my name?" His eyes lock into mine. I get nervous and answer with a simple "no." He looks away and lowers his voice even further. "I see." That's all he says before he goes silent. It's so awkward around everyone else. I lower my head and speed walk up to that one girl. I can feel the stares of the other three burning into the back of my head. Once I reach her I slow my speed to hers. She turns and smiles at me. I return it almost on instinct. We walk on in silence but I don't mind, I feel relaxed next to her.
After some time the sun starts to go down. The sky turns into an arrangement of oranges, pinks, and purples. I look on in awe while the others continue walking past me. Once I realized i was getting behind I rushed to catch up. Eventually we made it to a house. Not sure who's it is but we managed to get in and block off the entrance. I don't really understand what's going on or why. All I know is that these people know me and that I can't remember anything before today. We settle down for the night. The girl I'm fine with goes off and finds blankets and pillows somewhere at the back of the house. The other girls work on scavenging. The only dude works on the barricades. I just sit in the center of the room, looking at my left hand. It kind of burns. I clench it into a fist and take a deep breath. I fall backwards and land gently on carpet.
I stare into the cream ceiling. The world is silent. No birds sing, no motors run, just no anything. All that remains is the eerie silence and occasionally some gentle breezes. It's creepy. I don't like how much the world has changed. I still have those memories. Memories of waking up in the mornings to hear birds singing and cars driving down the road. I remember chattering all around. But now, it's all gone. I hear muffled footsteps approach me. The carpet makes them sound quieter. I turn my head to look at the person. I stare blankly into the person face. They sit down next to me and I just turn to look at the ceiling again.
"How are you feeling?" I turn back to them to see a girl. She spoke with a quiet and gentle voice. "I'm okay, I guess." I respond while once again turning to the ceiling. She hums a response. I shut my eyes and take a deep breathe. Shortly after, I heard someone humming a song. I don't know the song but it still relaxes me. My eyelids soon grow too heavy to lift. I then fall into a deep slumber.

My eyes flutter open to be greeted with darkness. It must be nighttime. I slowly sit up and look around. Everyone is sleeping near me on the carpet. It IS very soft. I slowly stand up, trying my best not to wake up anyone. Once standing to my full height, I carefully step over everyone and reach a window near the front door. I look out onto the dark and empty street. The only dim source of light was from the moon and stars up above. I stared out into the darkness, half expecting something to happen. After sitting there for about half an hour, I turned away from the window and went back to my spot on the carpet. Everyone was sleeping peacefully. I wonder, how do they know me? I still don't understand. It's actually kind of scary considering I have no memory of my family friends and childhood. I only have general knowledge of how the world used to be. I sigh as I sit down on my spot. Eventually my body meets the floor and my eyes are shut for the rest of the night.

I wake up to see the back of a person. They have brown hair that's pulled up into two, very tight braids. She seems to be sleeping. I sit up and look around the room to see it empty of the other three. While looking around, my eyes land on the window near the door. My eyes lock and I can't seem to look away. A tree outside sways slightly to the light breeze going by. I manage to snap my gaze away and stand up. I stretch my arms above my head and let them drop back to my sides. I hear clanging sounds coming from the back of the house. I look to the girl who was still sleeping and decided to let her sleep. I cautiously made my way to the noise. It lead into a long dark hall. At the end, there was a door with a light shining from under. I grabbed the doorknob and slowly turned it. The door silently opened to reveal an empty room. Well... not entirely empty. A single chair sits in the center, facing away from the door and looking at a single window. Light shines through the window, exposing all the dust particles floating in the air. I felt drawn to sit in that chair.
