Hayden POV

I woke up groaning and surrounded by warmth. A warmth that I thought that I lost three years ago, I slowly open my eyes to see both my parent hugging both Astrid and I close to his chest. I never felt this safe in a long time, and I never want this to go away. A content smile appeared on my face. I felt mum moving with her head on my chest. A small smile etched across my face hearing my mum mumbling something.

"So, you do know how to smile." I whipped my head to where the whisper came from.

Astrid wore smirk on her face while resting her head on my dad's chest, but still leaning on my arm.

"What?"

"I mean I honestly you didn't know how to smile, that your face muscle wouldn't be able to handle it. Guess I wrong." Astrid whispered back to me with the smirk still lingering on her face.

I frowned still looking down at her, but smirked as an idea hit. "Well it's not my fault you are a very young princess."

"That doesn't even make sense." her face scrunched up in confusion then her eyes went wide as if a pile of bricks hit her.

"You are disgusting, and in front of your parents."

"What are you talking about? I only said that you are too young to understand that there is a time to smile and a time smirk. I just happen to find events that deserves a smirk more than smiles." I replied while she gave me a confused look.

I didn't give her a chance to speak. "Oh, I see you were thinking of the dirty. Shame on you Astrid Melody Hoffreson, princesses don't think like that. And here I thought you were a decent person." Astrid instantly blushed. Mission accomplished. She punched my shoulder. Damn this woman can punch.

"What is with you and violence?" I shouted loud even though I didn't mean to.

"It's not violence, it's communication." She replied casually while I just looked because I couldn't believe her.

"You're weird, I can't believe we are friends. I mean now I understand why my friends are your friends. You're all weird."

"Oh, and you're normal with your obsession with my hair." She stated.

"Hey, keep your hair out of it."

We both looked at each other, then burst out laughing. We continued for a few minutes while looking at each other. She's different.

Normal POV

While they were having their conversation, and laughing what they didn't realised is that both Hayden's parents were awake listen in to them.

When they finally stopped laughing Astrid stared out of the window thinking about everything that she thought about was wrong. How wrong she was and is. She shouldn't have judge him like that, she wasn't being fair on him. Even though she was right one thing. He was still a womanizer.

"You okay nerd?" Hayden asked with an smirk playing on his face.

"When are, you going to stop calling me a nerd. I know that I'm one, but you don't have to preach it everyone." Astrid huffed looking away from her.

"Aww, but I like the pissed look in your face every time I do call you names." Hayden replied while snuggling close to his mother.

"I'm so sorry Hayden..."

"About what? You haven't done anything wrong." Hayden looked at Astrid playing with his mother's hair.

"I don't know why, but I judged you. I know you broke down in the basement. Ever since I came here I just thought that you know, that someone broke your heart and that's why being such a womanizer. I thought that maybe you loved her, and you got cheated on. And oh, god I can't believe myself for even thinking such. All along it was about your sister, and I just want to tell you how sorry I am for being so idiotic."

Astrid's POV

After I told him everything he just laughed at me.

"Hey stop laughing, I really feel bad." I looked down ashamed.

"You think I care you thought that. To be honest a lot of people think that in school, and I give them a reason to. But the cheating however, is the part where I'm confused because that is a first. Normally people would say that I just trying to be a rebel and popular. Although with looks like mine how can I not be popular Am I right?" Hayden smirked looked towards me.

Cocky pig

I just glared at him because come on, is he serious. "The cheating was guessed because when you were crying that night you were mumbling about how she left you and that she was gone. Also, the day I arrived after you threw a fit, and were very disrespectful to your parents, and after I came to give you the ice I heard your parents talking about someone being gone. They also talked about how you always got upset if she was mentioned. This someone was also specified as a girl so you see I assumed it was a girlfriend. They didn't realised I was listen though. Which was wrong, but I couldn't help it." I explained to him, and just gave me look a distant look.

"You should be a lawyer." He stated after a few minutes passed.

"Excuse me."

"The way you explained everything, you sounded just like a lawyer would. The guys were right, you definitely have potential to become a lawyer." I smiled.

In truth, I always wanted to become a lawyer just like mum and dad, but I always doubted that I could be a really good lawyer because finding clients for beginners are quite difficult even if you have an potential and really good, you won't have any experience.

"Yeah, but it's difficult you know." Hayden looked at me confused.

"How so?"

"Well, people won't hire lawyers that just started the job if they want to win the case." I sighed, this is also a reason why I chose to be a vet. This was my second option, but I hate the fact that I have to put animals down if they cannot be helped.

"Is it not what you want to do in the future?" What's with him and my career anyway.

"Yes, it is, but it is hard."

"Nothing is easy Astrid." When did he suddenly get wise.

"Yeah, I know that, but it would take years, it happened with my parents. Even though they are successful now."

"I'd hire you, if you became a lawyer"
