Melanie"There's going to be a party tonight."
Vitani, Yovann and I all walk along the campus of our university with matching, consistent footsteps to our first class on a Friday morning. It was a chilly yet sunny day which in my opinion was one of the best combinations.
"What time is it going to start?" Vitani asks Yovann as she adjusted a few of her papers that were spilling and nearly falling out her lavender colored binder.
"Eight p.m." He responds.
We finally reach our building and we easily find the art room which we all enter at once and sit on our usual table.
My classmates were all presenting their landscape paintings today and it was nearly about to be my turn to showcase my work when I heard and felt a vibration come from inside my bag along with a funny tune.
The entire class slowly decrease the volume of their voices until every single person in the class became aware of the never ending toon.
"What is that?" My art professor speaks sternly out loud with angrily frowned brows.
No one says a word or takes the blame until suddenly, it stops. Relief takes over my body and I let out a sigh knowing I was saved when everyone put it aside to get back to what they were doing.
"Miss Malik, it's your turn." Says my professor.
With a small smile I nod, ready to stand up and carry my canvas to the front of the classroom right when the ringing started up again.
My nervousness caused my heartbeat to speed up a bit and my face to transition into a light crimson color which clearly pointed out my guilt.
My professor arches his thick left brow up, crossing his somewhat ample arms over his chest with a look of disappointment. "Melanie... please silence your phone." He sternly demands.
I chuckle nervously to ease the tension, but I think I had made it worse. I dig into my bag in search for my phone and there was a few times I thought I was getting close to finding my phone when the sound got louder, but it seemed like forever until my hand finally grasped it.
I hastily glanced at the caller ID before declining the call. It was my mother. Gosh, she knows better than to call me during school hours.
"Alright Me-" he's cut off when the sound of a loud bell echoes throughout the entire building signaling the time we thought we had left has passed entirely.
"Fúck." I curse under my breath, catching a glimpse of pity from both Yovann and Vitani.
"You see, Melanie, this is why I don't allow phones to be on during class. Now I'll have to make time so you can present your work on Monday." My professor scolds me
I sigh, packing up my things whilst everyone else exits the room casually with no worry. "I'm so sorry, professor. It won't happen again." I promise, throwing my bag over my shoulder as I make my way to the door.
"It better not, because next time I'll take it." He warms me and with an understanding nod I leave to my next class.
The hallways were crowded and took me a while until I finally reached my sculpting class. I was hoping that this class will go by smoothly but of course the universe really wasn't in my favor today because once again the ringing began again.
