I woke up this morning, my face sticking to a glazed comic cover. I guess i read them all in one night. But i forced myself up, because i couldn't wait to tell Sidewalk Boy about the latest issue of X-Men.
Pulling on black skinnies and a red hoodie with my converse, i cleaned up and ran outside, shoving a protien bar in my bag.
I nearly sprinted down the sidewalk, trying to get to school, which never happens to me. I stopped running when i saw The Sidewalk Boy walking parallel to me. There was another, tall boy, walking with him. He looked much older than him, but they were headed in the same place.
I guess i was staring because he waved over to me. I faintly waved and looked at my feet the rest of the walk.
Then, i noticed The Sidewalk Boy take a wrong turn, whereas The Second Boy kept walking. Chosing to ignore it, i had finally arrived at school.
Now that i was here, i felt stupid for ever being excited to come. I was easily shoved aside multiple times before i could move ten feet.
A few names and shoves later, i had finally reached my friends. We had a nice little spot. The back of the school, where there was an old soccer field of dead grass, and a lot of bleachers fenced in.
Sitting on the bleachers alone, we'd get caught, but we didn't SIT on them. We slid under them. There were about 14 rows of seats which were fenched in on the side.
The very top bench connected with the wall of the school, causing it to be blocked on all sides. When we were under here, no one could ever find us. We called it our cave.
" Hey guys." I faintly smiled.
" Why the good mood?" Tristan questioned.
" It's barely a grin, calm your shit." I rolled my eyes, leaning against the wall.
" Did you change your mind about the concert?" Kat asked hopefully.
" I'd hate to be a kill-joy," Hence the sarcasm, "But no."
" You know you're going to give in." She smirked, but i could sense her confidence shrinking.
I was about to speak up, but the bell cut me off. I groaned and me and Kat dragged each other to, come to think of it, i don't know which one, class.
At lunch, the jocks came over to pick on us again. And the cheerleaders. Damn them.
When they finally moved on from us, i could see them talking to another victim. I couldn't see the face, just the tattered black converse.
" Emo fag." One muttered before walking away. I didn't get to see his face, but he's probably new. All those who fall under that description are here. All those unfortunate enough.
At Music, the only class which name i bothered to remember, we had another substitute. We continued the selection of music lesson films and i decided to re-read my comic.
" I see you've been to the store." The Sidewalk Boy smirked.
" Its a good issue" I put my hands up 'dont-shoot' style.
" I know." He smiled. We continued to talk about the issue.
" But who's your favorite superhero?" Sidewalk Boy asked.
" Banananananananananana BATMAN!" I sung, causing him to giggle.
" Good answer. And why so, Sidewalk Girl?" He asked. He thought just like me, sidewalk boy/girl.
" Well, Sidewalk Boy, it's because he has no real power. His entire abilities are humanly possible. It shows that you don't have to get bitten by a radioactive spider, or a magic lantern, or be a man with an iron suit ; you can still be a pretty damn great human." I smiled.
