Friday, Exactly One Week Before The Dance

At School, In Chemistry

"Hey!" I slapped the edge of the lab table to catch Mikey's attention, as I slid into the seat next to him. He just turned to give me a mix between unamused and slightly teasingly-amused. Confusing fucker.

"Who're you asking to the dance?" I asked, wiggling my eyebrows.

"You really want to know?" He raised an eyebrow mysteriously. I nodded, and he moved his finger, motioning me to come closer. Then, he leaned in, as if it were a special secret.

"No one." He whispered softly into my ear.

"Mikey! l'm serious." I whined.

"So am l. l'm not going."

"Please go. For me." I pouted, resting my head on his shoulder.

"No." He refused to look down at me, as if my face would destroy his focus.

"Please? I'd be so bored without mybestfriend."

"You have Frank." He huffed, turning his head away from me.

"But I want you there, too. Frank is great, but he's not you." This caused a little giggle from him.

"Who would l go with?" He looked straight ahead.

"So you agree to go." I sat up straight.

"I said, whowouldl go with. lf l went." He faced me now.

"I don't care. In my mind, you said you'll go." I smirked.

"How about Tori?" I pointed to a girl with short curly hair, and Mikey shook his head.

"She's actually quite rude." He huffed.

"Mikayla?"

"She hates me. I accidentaly tripped her and somehow im going to hell for it?" He laughed.

"Okay, thats stupid. WHO do you want to go with?" I huffed, giving up on guessing.

"Well, there is thisonegirl Ireallywant to ask." He blushed, looking down at the table.

"Who! WHO!" I jumped, far too excited for chemistry. The teacher gave me a suspicious look.

"Who?" I whispered, getting all up in his personal space.

"Just....l can't ask her though."

"Why not?"

"She doesn't like me." He blushed more, and began to fumble with his hands.

"You don't know that. She could be going to the dance alone, and you could ask her. Besides, who wouldn't love some Mr.Mikey Way? I mean, come on, look at that face." I pinched his cheeks like he was a baby, causing him to turn firetruck red.

"I do know that. And she's going to the dance for sure. With her boyfriend." He pouted.

"Oh." Was all l could say. It's not like I could help him out.

"Well, l guess  it wasn't meant to be then. There are plenty of other girls." I patted his shoulder.

"Meh." He shrugged, sinking into his seat.

"Well you could always ask Neliza." I pointed to a girl with firetruck hair, but she was blocked by a new guy standing in front of her. "Never mind." I frowned.

"How about me?" This short, preppy chick named Amy jumped onto our table.

"What?" I asked.

"Mitchell could take me!" She giggled, twirlying her bottle-blonde hair.

"Mikey, was going to ask Neliza." I fake smiled. I already hated this bitch. She had school colored ribbons in her hair, so she was obviously on the cheer squad. Extremely fake bleached hair, and orange skin. Also, she couldn't get Mikey's name right.

"Well Neliza's taken!" She snapped at me.

"Okay, so you'll pick me up at eight?" She tugged at his collar. Mikey nodded unsurely, and sighed in relief when she left.

"Why?" Was all l could manage.

"Why what?"

"Why would you take Amy to the dance?"

"She wanted me to. And l didn't have a date. And also, you're making me go." He pointed out.

"No offense, but why would she ask you to take her? I mean, you're awesome, but people like her don't talk to people like us."

"I don't know. Man, have you ever said no to a girl? Hardest thing ever." He chuckled.

"You say no to me all the time."

"Yeah, but you don't count."

"Why can't I count?"

"Because you're not just a girl to me." He shrugged. I have to admit, what started off really annoying turned into something sweet.

Walking Home From School.

"So, why do you want me to go to the dance so much?" Mikey asked me. I looked up at Frank, who was further ahead with Gerard and Ray.

"I don't know. I just wouldn't have much fun with just Frank. But more importantly, why does Frank want to go? Shouldn't we be staying away from school stuff?"

"What about the dance?" Frank popped up.

"I was just wondering why you wanted to go." I admitted.

"I don't know, I thought you'd want to. And it might be fun..." He trailed off.

"Frank, you don't look so sure about this. We don't have to go. To be honest, l only agreed to go because you wanted to."

"I just thought we could do that, since we haven't really been on a proper date in a while. I don't know, l just felt like a horrible boyfriend." He stared down at his feet, as if he were embarrassed.

"WHAT!? You're not going? No, you guys are BOTH coming, since you made me take Amy!" Mikey blew up.

"But Mikeyyy!" I whined.

"l am not taking Amy on alone. You're helping." Mikey ended the discussion.

"Don't you understand? We don't have to go! We can be free!!! WE CAN BE HERMITS AGAIN!" I cheered.

"Lets just tell Amy that and hope she'll understand."

"So, we are going to the dance?" Frank looked confused.

"Yes." I sighed.

"How about we ditch the toothpick?" Frank whispered to me.

"Heard that." Mikey called out.

"Damn. And l had a good plan too." Frank pouted.

"Okay, how about we leave early?" He suggested. Mikey put his stamp of approval on that, as well as l.

"And how about we all just wear t-shirts and jeans?" I added, with slight hope.

"And how about we stay home and do nothing?" Mikey pitched in.

"Yes." We all said in unision.

"Awesome." I cheered.
