I struggled to get into the dress, cursing British sizes and their inability to cater to my curves. My best friend of ten years had made a spur of the moment decision to move to England and attend uni, and without hesitation I followed her. So as she forced me to go clubbing with her I was stuck in an all too tight and short dress.
"Ivy let me come in!" She called from outside my changing room and I groaned as my boobs were still not inside of it.
"I'm kind of exposed right now I'll send a pic when I'm done, you go pick out s dress!" I called from inside and pulled the dress as much as I could. We didn't have time to waste since it was already dinner time. Finally I pulled on the dress and grabbed my phone to take a picture.

I sent it quickly without looking only to pick it up once it buzzed again. I checked to see I hadn't set it to Angeline but to my ex, Alex. I groaned and pressed my palm against my forehead, I unlocked the phone to see his reply.

Alex: Looking good
Me: Sorry I meant to send that to Angeline but uhm thanks
Alex: oh it's fine how are you?
Me: I'm good just shopping for a night out
Alex: where at? We could meet up me and the guys were thinking of going out too
Me: I'm not sure rn but I'll get back to you on that :)

I would rather choke on rice than meet up with him but since we had only been in England for less than a year we didn't know that many people. Maybe Alex could introduce us to people that weren't douches like him. I had managed to change back into my clothes so I sent Angeline the picture and headed out of the changing room.
I ran into her and she looked up from her phone.
"Damn Ivy you're so hot, why do I bother with guys I should just date you?" Angeline teased and I rolled my eyes.
"You couldn't handle me. Should I buy it then?" I did think I looked good but I wasn't in the mood for shopping or clubbing. Angeline nodded excitedly and seeing her so happy made me head to the counter. We got done with shopping at 8 giving us plenty of time to get ready.
We took an uber back to our apartment building. Somehow we managed to get a really nice apartment in London. I worked as a pr specialist and Angeline managed an online fashion store that made enough to fund three of her lifestyles.
The club we went to had a line curving around the block. I caught Angeline up on the texts from Alex and she said to text him in case he was inside and could help us get inside.
"I really don't want to see him again." Alex had been a jerk most of the time we dated, I wasn't surprised when he cheated on me but it gave me the reason I was waiting for to break up with him. Angi had kind of slapped him so to say things ended on a bad note was an understatement.
"I know you don't and neither do I but I do want to see the inside of this club." Angi said nudging me. We were swallowing our pride as I sent a text to say I was outside the club I knew he frequented. Soon enough the bouncer ushered us in from the back of the line. Another perk of dating Alex was that he was a soccer/football player and that carried a lot of weight in England. I always liked the sport I just never kept up with it and plus I preferred the American football.
Alex greeted us with hugs and I faked a smile. His ice blue eyes had no effect on me anymore as I pulled Angeline towards the bar knowing he would follow without being asked. After a couple of drinks I found him bearable. He kept going on and on about some drinking game he had won and I kept nodding and smiling. Alex was egotistical enough to not notice when a person didn't care about his life, so I didn't have to act too much.
"I feel like dancing, Angeline wanna join me?" I said abruptly as my head hurt from hearing Alex talk, she nodded and I took her hand in mine.
"One more minute of that and I would have lost my mind." Angi said and I chuckled, I couldn't have agreed more. I pushed through the crowd of people only to collide into someone and their drink.
"What the fuck?!" I said as the other person spoke simultaneously.
"Oi watch where you're going!" The tall blonde guy in front of me had clearly crashed into me walking against the grain of everyone else. The drink spilled down the front of my dress.
"Watch where I'm going? You just ran into me asshole!" I yelled at him now furious at his lack of manners. I could hear Angi telling me to drop it but I couldn't now that the he had acted like a dick.
"Look you're clearly not from around here but I'm kind of a big deal." The guy said which only pissed me off further, I didn't like the demeaning tone and large ego.
"That's possibly the douchiest thing I've heard in my entire life." I spat out and I felt my arm being tugged from behind me only to turn and see Alex.
"What?" I said to him, as he looked back and forth between me and the asshole.
"Control your girl Alex." The asshole said and I almost punched him in the face if it wasn't for Alex dragging me backwards.
"Who the hell was that?" I was fuming so Alex better have a good reason for knowing the guy.
"He's a football player, a damn good one at that. Simon Minter he plays for Leeds." The name didn't ring any bells at all so I just rolled my eyes and decided I had had enough for the night. Angeline followed closely behind me.
It would be too soon if I saw Alex, or Simon Minter after 50 years. But something told me this was unlikely.
