Broken Angel

I was pacing the floor just waiting for the doctor to update us on Terri.
"Leland sit down,your going to put a hole in the floor." I heard beth tell me as she put a hand on my shoulder.
"That's easy for you to say,you didn't see her laying there fighting to breathe fighting to stay awake. Her body was a mess, blood everywhere." I said fighting not to cry,"you don't know how hard it is to see her fighting to live. Fighting for every dam breath, I don't want her to die Beth. I should have never let her go on that dam bike by herself,I should've went with her." I sat on the floor and put my head on my knees.please God she has to live, I love her to much to let her go.

After a couple minutes,the doctor comes out," miss Johnson broke her spine in two places one in the middle of her back then in the lower part of her back,We had do surgery to put rods in her back. She has three broken ribs. She's stable but in a coma."
"Will she be able to walk?" I heard dog ask. She's part of our family and to me and dog she's like a daughter to us.
"From were the spine broke, she's paralyzed from the chest down." the doctor said soberly,"you guys can see her she's in room 213."
I looked over at Leland who just looked like he just had his heart torn out. Terri and Leland are like two peas in a pod,I can imagine how he feels. He just sat there staring in the hallway.
"Hey Leland,why don't you go by yourself. We'll wait,she's your girl." he just stared In the hall, I put my have on his shoulder causing him to jump. These guys barely cried but when I saw the tears coming from Leland I knew this hit him harder then anyone,"she's going to be fine Leland she's a fighter." I helped him up." she's part of this family. You can go in."
He just nodded and walked towards Terri's room.
"He's really taking this hard." Duane Lee said looking down the hall were Leland went. '' he loves Terri to death. He's the one that got her out of her shell.now this happened. How we going to tell the kids this, they love Terri like there big sister."
"One step at a time." I replied

I walked into Terri's room, and saw she was hooked up to so many machines and wires. I could kick myself for letting her go on that bike by herself,I should've went with her. She practically begged me to let her go,if it wasn't for bounty coming to get my attention,she probley would've died out there. I don't want to lose her.
I pulled up a chair and put it beside Terri's bed, I gently picked up her unwired hand giving it a kiss,"It's going to be a long road but I promise you I'm not leaving your side baby girl. Your stuck with me."
