It was a normal day in my life: wake up late go to school, go to work, go home, make supper for the family, go to bed. Everything changed when Heaven and Hell attacked each other and crashed to Earth. I was in the middle of being late for school (again) and contemplating why the hell I thought it would be a good idea to stay up late with my best friend Herbert. Like holy hell I made a bad choice, on a good day I want to shoot only two or three people, now I want to nuke New York City. I dragged myself over to my coffee, the only thing that prevented me from making mass graves and filling them. My sister, Elaine, breezed in looking like she could fill a mass grave. Hmm must run in the family.
"We missed the bus" I said offhandedly as I frowned into my coffee. Fuck I used the last of my creamer yesterday... damn. This shit is nasty without it but I don't want to nod off in class.
I sighed as my she started freaking out.
"Go get dressed I will wake mom up, I just don't know if I will have a long enough pole." I grinned at her "After all she chews through 9ft of a 10ft pole before she looks at who is is."
She giggled and ran off, Crisis Avoided: Rose's mass grave won't be filled with her sisters bodies. We were on our way to school now and mom lit up a cigarette. I looked at it with disgust and watched the big screen. Lately the news has been blabbing about 'The End Of The World!'
Ah oh no! *snort* whatever it has to happen eventually. I mean of course I am scared and nervous but if it's our time well then its our time. I looked up at the screen and saw a meteorite hit it. Beings all traffic was stopped I opened my door and got out. Another meteorite hit the ground nearby causing me to be slammed against the car. Dazed I yelled at my sister and mom, I heard Elaine crying and I turned around to see her covered in blood. I hesitantly looked at mom, but she was dead, glass was stuck in her head and chest. I ran around the car and yanked the door open. Ignoring the chaos I kneeled down and grabbed Elaine's face. She raised her blue eyes to my black ones.
"Hey it will be ok. Stop panicking, there will be time for that later. Let's go."
I tried to pull her up but she was limp.
"We have to go" she flinched but nodded.
I pulled her up and I looked around, it looked like there were... angels and demons? Uh yeah time to go, none of them look friendly.
I pulled on her arm and we started jogging towards our house. My breath was starting to saw out of me. I turned us into an alley, we are almost there. Almost then we can pack and hide, she has to live on. Elaine.... She needs to live, I'd give my life for hers.
We walked through the alley and it was quiet, everything was muted.
Shit, we have to cross the street.
I looked both ways, not for cars, but for angels or demons. When I thought it was clear we started to run across. Suddenly a huge ass demon picks up a bus! OH MY GOD!
It turned towards up and heaved it back like it was going to throw it at us. I pushed Elaine harder. Suddenly another meteorite hit the ground behind it. The demon turned and looked at the man- if you could call him that. He was tall like almost 7ft I'd say and very muscular. He looked at the demon with hatred. I turned to continue running when Elaine tripped and fell. I stopped and went to help her when I heard a grunt behind me. I grabbed a broken piece of pipe
and whipped around. I saw the huge ass man frowning at me with his hand on his sword..... which was the size of me. Damn.
I have never been so afraid, but I lifted my head, raised my pipe, and told Elaine to run.
She took off like a bat out of hell. Once she was gone I spoke calmly to the man while lowering my pipe slightly. "If you are going to kill me, then get it over with."
He only twitched an eyebrow. I read the silent question perfectly.
"You are obviously a better swordsman than me. I will still fight to live but it's obvious who will win. I don't want her to see me die as well"
I turned around as I heard a growl behind me. I saw a demon about ten feet away tracking something, it turned towards me and sniffed the air. It moved on but it went towards where Elaine had run not but moments before.
"Shit." I dashed forwards after the demon that had started to run in her direction. As I got close to it, it whirled around and snapped its teeth at me. I smashed my pipe over its head leaving it dazed and vulnerable. Before I could think of my actions I slammed the sharp end of the pipe into its brain. The man was behind me again.
"You are protecting her with your life. Why? Who is she to you?" The man's deep voice shocked me.
"It speaks!" I sarcastically moved a hand to my heart and the other to my forehead, I could practically hear his frown. After a second I dropped my hands. "She is my little sister and I would do anything for her. And now I must be going, I have to find her."
I turned to face him, and he was a few feet away. I cautiously watched as he reached towards his waist. I looked back at the pipe I stuck in the demon. Could I get it out in time? I had so much adrenaline when I put it there.
I flicked my glare up at the man who was now holding a dagger. It was beautiful; the blade was black and silver while the hilt was black with well-worn red leather wrapped around it.
The man flipped it into the air and caught it by the blade, he then offered me the handle. He is giving it to me? I thought he was going to kill me?
He must have read my confusion because he spoke up.
"You are the most courageous human I have met. Take it and protect your sister with it."
I looked him in the eyes, noticing that they glowed white. I reached out and wrapped my hand around it. As soon as I touched it I knew the basics of how to use it properly and I almost dropped it in shock. I inspected the blade closer, it was the length of my forearm and surprisingly light. I looked up to thank him but he was gone.*******
*PresentI cleaned my dagger off with my shirt, effectively ridding it of the gooey black blood. I sighed as I turned and opened a portal. I stepped through and into my 'house', it was really just a shack in a dimension created by the Charred Council. I took my shirt off and threw it into the never ending fire. I liked that shirt, why can't demon blood just wash out?
"Rose." I whipped around and palmed Hubris, my dagger. I grabbed the trespasser and shoved it up against the wall with Hubris to its throat. I saw that it was a Watcher so I dropped my arm and stepped away.
I huffed, "What do they want now? I just got back from cleaning that nest out, I was going to go train."
"Oh, you will train alright." it sniggered. "You will 'train' with someone special, he has done some horrible things but the Council needs him."
"So what? His punishment is to train?"
"Indeed, and they want you to do it. Someone else has been doing it for the last 75 years and that someone is tired of training him. You see, he has no idea how much time has passed, he can't tell." It sniggered again. " His name is War, he is the youngest of the Horsemen. You were chosen because you know your way around every weapon."
I raised an eyebrow "Fine. When do I start"
"Now. So gather your things."
I preceded to pack my extra warriors wrap and my dual swords, Luna and Solis. I also packed all of my armor. I didn't pack anything other than an extra pair of undies because I was only going to wear my bodysuit. It was black and flexible. With my armor on I was still lithe, I made sure of it. I looked at my boots, they were black leather that was perfectly broken in. After I changed into my suit I turned to the Watcher "I'm ready, let's go"
