Chapter eighteen

Jade's POV

I'm worried. Like, freaking out worried.

It's been a while now and the Little Things video is almost done. Louis has actually been quite helpful, surprisingly, and I have finally memorized the whole song. I don't know why Louis is being so helpful, and it's bothering me.

But that's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried because it's the last day of filming Little Things and I'm afraid I'll freeze all of a sudden and mess up.

Calm down, Jade. You got this.

"Alright, Louis. Are you ready for this?" the directer asks me teasingly as I walk in. I nod.

"Hopefully." I answer.

"Alright. Places everyone!" he shouts. I make my way over to the door where we come out and wait.

"Cameras rolling in 3, 2, 1, action!"

"Good job, Louis. You didn't mess up once." the directer says to me after we're all done. I smile. I was so relieved.

"Zayn! Are you done with the video?" an all too familiar voice yells across the room. I turn to see Perrie and the girls, and Louis, standing in the doorway. I walk over to Louis and pull him aside.

"How'd it go?" he asks.

"Great! I didn't mess up once!" I say proudly. He snorts.

"I would hope so." he says sarcastically. I roll my eyes. Why did he always have to be so sacastic?

" Anyways, the DNA video comes out next friday, right?" I ask him. He nods. "Ok, I guess we can go practice it." I say. He raises his eyebrows. "Oh for god's sake Louis! Not that way!" He laughs.

We walk into the empty studio and sit down.

"Alright, how much do you have completely memorized?" I ask him. 

"Your part and the beginning of the chorus." he says.

 "Can you repeat it to me?"

"Alright." he clear his throat. "It's in his DNA. D-D-D-DNA. It's in his DNA. And he just takes my breath away. B-B-B-Breath away. I feel it, uh, everywhere? I don't know the rest. he admits. I nod.

"Well that was very good. You just need to learn the rest of the chorus and that shouldn't be too hard." I say. "Now, It's: I feel it everyday. Not everywhere. So after you say that it goes to: And that's what makes a man. Not hard to understand. Perfect in every way. I see it in his face. Nothing more to say. It's in his D-D-D-DNA." I finish. He nods. "Can you sing that back?" I ask him.

"Sure." he says and sings it back as I had asked.

When he finished I couldn't help but be impressed. Not only had he gotten all the right lyrics, but he was perfectly on pitch. Louis was a fast learner, unlike me. No wonder everyone was so surprised when I was so bad at the Little Things lyrics.

"That was so good!" I say to him, despite myself.

"Thanks." he says and looks down. I'm surprised to see a blush creeping into his cheeks. This was a first.

"Are you blushing?" I blurt out at him. Oh my god! I can't believe I just asked him that! It just came out!

He blushes even redder. (*Is redder a word? Or is it more red? Oh well. :P*) "No." he mumbles.

Oh my gosh he was even embarrassed about it! What is happening?!

"Anyways," Louis says quickly. "You have a concert Saturday and you don't know any of the songs." I shrug.

"I know What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing." I protest.

"Well you need to know more than that. No pun intended." he smiles to himself as if it's the funniest thing ever.

"I don't get it." I state simply.

"Exactly." he says. I frown, but don't question it.

"Ok, so the songs you are singing Saturday are What Makes You Beautiful, Little Things, Up All Night, Live While We're Young, Kiss You, and Gotta Be You." Louis lists off his fingers. "And you know 2 of those."

I sigh. "This is going to be difficult." I say.

Louis nods in agreement. "Yes it is. Now, let's start with Up All Night."

Louis' POV

"That was really good, Jade!" I say, shocking myself. Jade looks at me like I'm crazy, then smiles.

"Thanks." she says.

She had just learned the whole Up All Night song and hit all the pitches well. I didn't actually think she could do it.

"Do you want to work on another song?" I ask her, not trying to force her into learning another song if she didn't want to. Jesus! What was I talking about?! She had a concert in 2 days and didn't know half of the songs! Why was I being so nice to her?

"Yeah. We only have 2 days. I obviously need to learn more." she says.

I nod. "Ok. Let's do Live While We're young now."

Live While We're Young wasn't as hard as the other because I didn't really have a solo. Or at least a long one. 

"Louis?" Jade asks.

"Hm?" I ask, staring into space.

"Why didn't you ever get big solos your guy's first album?"

 I look up at her. "I don't know. Why?"

She shrugs. "I don't know. Personally I think you have the nicest voice." 

I have no clue what I was expecting her to say, but it wasn't that. I can feel my face turn red. Uh-oh, I've already been caught blushing in front of her today, I don't want to get caught again. "Uh, I uh, Th-thanks!" I stutter out. She smiles.

"No problem, Louis."

"Guys! Louis! Jade! Time to go!" I hear Perrie yell from the other room.

Jade stands up. "Well we better get going." she says and starts walking over to the door.

Just as she opens the door, I stop her. "Jade! Wait!" She turns to face me.

"What?" she asks.

"Thanks. Really, thanks." I say to her.

"Like I've told you, it's no problem Louis."

I nod. "Ok. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Tomorrow." she says, and walks out of the room.
