"WAKE UP!" a voice shouted loudly in my face the next morning. Groggily I opened my eyes and sat up staring at the all too keen face of Cody.
"What...the...hell?" I asked as I adjusted my focus to the rest of the Emmons clan who all seemed to be in my bedroom.
Alice, probably completely oblivious to how weird this all was slumped herself down at the end of my bed, "We've got to get going Aria, like now."
I yawned, "What time even is it?"
A deep chuckle from the open door caught my attention, "Eight. Now get up lazy-bones."
Slightly offended I jokingly replied, "I am not lazy Travis merely nocturnal."
He smiled in reply and our gaze interlocked, I forgot about the rest of the people in the room. Well until Cody and Josh grew inpatient and grabbed both my arms yanking me out of bed.
"Alright! God. I'm up." I began ushering everyone out of my room, "Now out so I can get ready."
Slamming the door behind me I leant against it exhausted, sometimes I was really thankful that I was an only child. I decided that I needed to try a little harder considering that we were going into the city. Finally I decided on a pair of black skinny jeans, with a plain white loose fitted tee. I plaited my hair into a side fishtail and put some light make-up on. To finish I grabbed some oversized tortoiseshell sunglasses and slipped some black heeled sandals on.
I ran downstairs with my bag in hand and found the group waiting lazily around the truck. They all looked up as I hurried as quickly as I could towards them. "It's all good, I'm here."
"Yeay." Josh cheered as he flung himself into the truck.
Alice and Travis seemed to be arguing over something so I took the opportunity to sneakily jump into the passenger seat, "I call shotgun." I shouted once I was buckled in.
The two looked up for a moment before starting back on the argument, I could make out some of it.
"Alice, I can drive. I'm the eldest."
Alice scoffed, "Only by three minutes idiot. And anyway this trip was my idea, so I get to drive."
It seemed to carry on like this for a few more minutes until I saw Travis snatch the keys and rush into the driver's seat, locking the door behind him. He sat there laughing evilly whilst Alice stood outside shouting insults at him.
"You're such a meanie." I said to him as Alice finally gave up getting into the back squished up with Cody and Josh.
Flashing a triumphant smile at me, making my stomach flutter, he switched the engine on, "Nah. I'm just a brother."
We began to drive off and I glanced into the back at Alice who was being whacked in the face by Josh as he eagerly described the plot of the Spiderman comic which he was going to buy. I laughed slightly at the picture, but quickly covered it up, "Hey Alice, you okay back there?"
She looked at me pouting and stuck out her tongue at Travis, "Just peachy."
Finally relaxing, I leant back in my chair, feeling the same loose spring digging into my back. We had emerged from the ranch and were now making our way along a main road. If there was one thing to be said about this place it was that the views were awesome. I lost myself in the gorgeous skylines and began blurring out the commotion within the car.
"You okay?" a voice asked pulling me back from my daydreams.
I looked over at Travis, "Fine. Just daydreaming."
