***Keshini***

"Something's leaking yo," Harper began.

"What?" Keshini asked her ear ringing because of the noise that had erupted a few seconds ago. It had startled her more than ever, even more than the dumb horror movies that she never found scary. She franticly looked towards the crowd of her classmates that had gathered towards the back door of Mrs. STC's class.

"It's spreading, back up!" Harper pushed herself to the back as Keshini went ahead to see what is was.

"It's a fume... it looks toxic to be honest." Keshini commented suddenly feeling like a genius.

"It smells funny." Ethan began slowly wafting the funny looking air up to his nose similar to the safety lesson in their chemistry lab. For the first time, Keshini was awestruck with how Ethan was intrigued about his surroundings. She scanned his face as he barely blinked looking at the fumes spiral inwards at a slow pace. Keshini glanced at all the other faces; they were all so focused. Even Aliya had left her phone and earplugs on the table. Keshini scanned for similarities. Their brows were furrowed, crossed with confusion. But most of all, she noticed the terror and paranoia seeping in.

"Look at the sky..." Zack melancholically huffed as they uniformly tilted their heads upward. The sunny skies of  yanbu were gone replaced by a bleak yellow, hazy, fog which made her feel deeply nauseous. Her head spun as she looked back down and took support of Mrs. STC'S table.

"Wait a second," Keshini began, "where is Mrs. STC?" All eyes gawked at the empty chair that still help the prints of someone recently sitting there. She remembered her leaving the classroom. They all did. But where? For some reason, their teacher's unnerving absence frightened Keshini more than ever. Paranoia seeped through cloaking her too.

***Hudaifa***

Am I really that clumsy? She thought to herself looking up to the poorly maintained ceiling of their school. She recalled her memory of how she ended up sprawled across the floor. She remembered running down the hallway to class because she knew she wouldn't be able to manage another tardy. While running down, she had looked up at the ceiling and BOOM she was down on the ground. Must have been a stupid shoelace, she thought to herself. Hudaifa sat up and noticed the eerie quietness of  the hallway. "Hmm, funny," she said out loud shattering the silence. The sudden sound of the bell sent a startling shiver throughout her: she was tardy.

Hudaifa got up and dusted the dirt off her jeans, "I think I just karma-ed myself," she murmured chuckling about her logic. She recalled that moment in front of the mirror where she had mentioned how strong she was and now, she couldn't even walk properly. As she walked down the hallway, she thought to herself about whether or not it was possible to jinx yourself into trouble. That thought sent a giggle through calming the tense aroma around her.

"Hey guys," Hudaifa began opening the door and entering into the class. She looked up as chaos sprung around up. The choking smell of bleach and petroleum suddenly stung her nose as she took it all it. "It smells good!" She brightened up. A couple of her classmates looked up at her eyeing at her stupidity.

"What are you doing? Help us out man!" Felix cried out towards her. She looked his hand that were desperately placed onto the cracks of the door. His copper eyes seemed to be stinging by whatever was in the air.

"Okay, okay but what are you doing?" She asked back.

"There's some weird gas coming out and it doesn't look good."He replied. Hudaifa instinctively covered her mouth and nose with the sleeve of her shirt. Panic struck her as she looked around to to find someway to help. There seemed to be no way, the gas was flowing right through their desperate attempts at sealing the cracks. She looked passed trying to make out the fountain that once sprayed dirty water in courtyard of her school. But it was gone. Invisible. Everything outside seemed to be hiding behind a layer of yellow gas. It suddenly hit her as lessons from her chemistry class poured in.
