Carlee
Two Weeks Later
Pulling up to my dads house I shut my engine off. I wasn't really too anxious to go inside. Their having a rehearsal dinner today and I really don't want to be here.
And it isn't because of Leslie or because their getting married, it's because of her daughter.
Every time I'm around it's something. She tries to get under my skin and I've been doing all that I can to not snap her neck but she's going to get hurt.
Somebody tapped my window. I quickly looked up at Chris standing there. I got out the car and hugged him. "Thanks for coming." I said.
"No problem." He went to the back seat and got Junior out, then grabbed my hand. "Come on let's go inside."
I took a deep breath and followed behind him. We got to the door and I rung the bell.
"You look nice." He said while looking down at me.
"Thanks." I nervously rubbed my hair.
The door finally pulled back and Leslie appeared. "Well look who's here. Hello you guys, come in. Cute dress Carlee."
"Thank you." I said while hugging her. Chris hugged her after me.
"Come on, everyone is in the backyard." Leslie said. We followed behind her. Music played loudly and I saw people walking back and forth. I just prayed in my head that tonight remained peaceful.
"There's my baby girl." My dad walked to me while holding his arms out.
"Hey dad." I hugged him.
"Hi princess. Hello Christopher. You two came together, that's a good thing." He smiled.
"We're just friends dad."
"I'm just glad to see you two not going at it, that's all." He said. "Let me take my grandson from you."
Chris passed him over.
"Go enjoy, there's food and drinks by the grill." Leslie said while they walked away.
"Hungry?" Chris asked.
"I'm starving." My fingers intertwined with his as we made our way to grab something to eat.
Once we made our plates, we found somewhere to chill where there wasn't a bunch of people.
"So you excited about your dads big day?" Chris asked.
"Yeah, he's happy so I'm happy."
"You've came a long way with this situation. I'm proud of you."
"I couldn't be mad forever. It's not like I can get my mom back so I just had to go with the flow."
"I'm still proud of you. I know this is was hard."
"Yeah, thanks."
It got quiet.
I don't know why I've been feeling so nervous around him lately.
