I was with illz and we just had left the skating ring. It was so fun. Illz is like my best friend so I wouldn't know what to do if something happened to him. We were walking to car when I heard a car screech. Gunshots started going off and illz protected me with his body.
He dropped to the ground and I started crying. "Someone call for help!!"I yelled and people starting pulling out their phones.
I sat down on the concrete floor and put illz's head in my lap. Blood was just gushing out of his mouth.
"Stay with me illz. Your gonna be alright. The ambulance is gonna be on there way"I cried.
"I'm not gonna m-make it Mel. I told y-you I would p-protect you and I did. I love you and Zara"He coughed out.
"Please don't leave me lllijah. I need you, your my best friend"I cried.
"I told y-you I would take a b-bullet for you.See you in the a-after life Mel"He said and then he stopped breathing.
"No!"I yelled.
"lllijah! Wake up!"I yelled shaking his body.
"Please!"I cried into his bloody chest.
"Ma'am, we're gonna need to take him"A paramedic told me.
"No! I'm not leaving him"
"Please, he's gone"
"No he isn't"I said as more tears fell down my face.
"I'm sorry ma'am"He said and I started crying harder. They removed his body from me and I sat on the ground crying.
I got up off the ground and got in the car. I sped to the hospital because I didn't care about the speed limit. I made it to the hospital and jumped out the car. I ran inside the hospital and went to the desk.
"I'm here for lllijah-"
"The boy that just came in here with dreads"She said and I nodded.
"I'm sorry man but he is deceased. We could not save him"She said and I dropped to the ground sobbing.
This is all my fault. That should've been me instead of him. Illz had a great future and I was just a waste of space. He shouldn't have shielded me from those bullets.
I finally stopped crying and took out my phone. I sent a text to all the guys telling them to meet me at the hospital.
1 hour later.......
The boys all came in the waiting room where I was sitting at anxious.
"What happened?"Twelvy asked.
"Illz is g-gone"I cried out.
"What do you mean he gone? This better be some joke Mel"Rakim said.
"I'm not. We were leaving the skating ring and someone did a drive by. Illz shielded me and I had to watch him die in my arms"
"This is all your fault"Twelvy yelled.
"I know"
"It's not her fault Twelvy"Nast said.
"Stop defending her. It could've been her instead of him"He said and rakim immediately pointed a gun at him.
"What's your problem? You didn't like her since day one"Reem asked. Twelvy looked at all of us and shooked his head walking away.
"Im so sorry guys"I apologized.
"This is not you fault Mel. Don't believe him"Bari said.
"I can believe it for myself. That was my best friend"I said and then walked away.
Why does someone always have to get hurt when I'm around? Illz death is all my fault.
I got in the car and drove to the house. I packed me and Zara's stuff and got in the car. I went to her daycare and picked her up. I drove to a nearby hotel and checked in.
I can't be around them because I can't risk getting any of them hurt. I lost my best friend but I'm not losing the love of my life.
