Louis's P.O.V.

"Louis?" her blue eyes looked up at me in suprise and fear. Her brown hair cascaded down her back. She was completely soaked, from head to toe. It was Hayley.

"Hayley? I never thought I would see you again." My hand moved to her face, and I tucked a piece of loose hair behind her ear. I didn't realize what I was doing, and I pulled my hand away. I could see a blush creeping on her face.

"Me neither." She looked at the ground but I could see behind her shy actions. She was happy to see me, and the feeling was mutual.

After a few minutes of comfortable silence, I remembered why she was here. She had run inside in a panic, and she looked like she had just been mugged. "Hayley, what happened?"

Worry washed over her face and replaced the joy from seconds before. "I was walking to a hotel and these guys jumped me. Three of them. They... they tried to rape me. I got away before they could." I was shocked. Purely and utterly shocked. How could someone do that to Hayley. She's so innocent.

I finally jammed some sense in my head and asked her "Do you want to call the police?" she quickly nodded her head. I handed her my phone, and she spoke to the 911 operator in a very rushed tone. When she finished the call she handed me back my phone, which I slipped into my pocket.

"Do you happen to know where the nearest motel is?" she shyly asked me.

"No way, I'm not letting you stay in some cheap, dirty, motel. You can stay the night here." Did she really think I was going to let her stay in some sketchy motel room after what she just went through?

"No, I can't ask that much of you Louis. But thank you anyway." She obliged. I loved how she was so sweet and down to earth.

"I insist. I would be a monster to make you sleep in some termite infested motel room."

"Thank you so much. It really means a lot. Would you mind if I borrowed your phone for a quick second? I need to call Lauren and tell her I'll be coming to her house a day late."

"Sure thing." I once again handed her my phone. She politely thanked me and walked into the next room over. She was so beautiful with those rain drops in her hair. Her blue eyes twinkled in the dim lighting of my house. She was perfect. I had never felt so comfortable with anyone else in my life. Ever. She was the only girl I felt a spark with when we kissed. I think I love her. I barely know her, but I love her. I would be lying if I said I hadn't fallen for her confidence, her down to earth personality, and her beautiful eyes. Her eyes were my weakness. They held so much light, so much happiness. Also at times they held fear and sadness. And whenever I saw that sadness or fear in her eyes I wanted to hold her close to me and tell her everything was going to be okay. As I looked at her from afar, her back facing away from me, I mumbled under my breath, "I fell in love with my student."

After a few more minutes of secretly admiring her, she hung up the phone and walked towards me. She extended her arm with the phone in the palm of her hand. I again slipped the phone into my pocket. "Would you like to take a shower?" I asked her "I can't imagine how cold you must be with all those wet clothes." "Yeah, thanks"

I led her upstairs and to the guest room bathroom. I fumbled around in the cabinets until I found what I was looking for. "Here's some girl shampoo and stuff from when my sisters visit. I'll leave some warm clothes out on the bed."

"I really can't thank you enough, Louis. This is all so nice." I smiled and looked into her eyes. "It's no problem."

And with that I left the bathroom and looked in my drawer for the comfiest articles of clothing I owned. I found a pair of gray sweatpants, a soft t shirt, and some socks. I folded them neatly and placed them on the bed outside of the bathroom.

~ 1 hour later ~

Hayley had exited the shower. I was downstairs preparing our dinner. We were having spaghetti and garlic bread. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I looked up and met Hayley's gaze. I smiled up at her and said "Hey. I made us some dinner. It's spaghetti and garlic bread." "Wow that smells amazing. I bet it tastes even better." "Thanks love."

I handed her a plate of spaghetti and we sat down on the couch. "Would you like to watch a film?"

"Sure. What should we watch?"

"How about The Heat?"

"Sure! It looks really funny."

We ate our spaghetti and had multiple laughing fits during the movie. It was just so damn funny. After we finished our meals she placed her head on my shoulder. I felt an immediate spark when her skin made contact with mine. I think she felt it too because she flinched a bit at first.

The movie had finished, and we were just laughing and having light conversation. Of course I had to be a complete dick and bring up her expulsion. "So what did you do after you got expelled?"

I could immediately see the light leaving her eyes and I regretted my question. "Well I had enough credits to graduate so that's what I did. I lived alone until summer. That's when me and Lauren got an apartment together for a few months. Then we went to different colleges so we don't see eachother that often."

"You lived alone? What about your parents?"

"My mom left us when I was 15 and my dad, um, went to jail."

"Oh. If you don't mind me asking, why was he put in jail?" she looked at the floor very sadly. She looked upset and I felt like a complete dick now. "I'm sorry. You don't have to answer that."

"No, it's fine. It's just that I've never told anyone before. But I want to change that." She paused and gulped. "He had a drinking problem and started getting... getting abusive"

I just wanted to hold her so badly right now.

"I'm really sorry Hayley. I didn't mean to intrude."

"No, you didn't intrude. I really needed to tell someone about it. Nobody else knew."

"Our secret?" I asked holding out my pinky.

She smiled and held out her pinky as well. We linked pinkies and she chuckled. "Our secret."
