Sakura downed the last of the kohi and looked up at Itachi. "Where am I, Itachi-san?" She asked again.

Itachi chose his words carefully. "The Uchiha Compound."

Sakura's eyes widened. "Woah. Is this your house?" She saw Mikoto. "Is that your mommy?" She whispered.

Itachi forced a smile. "Yes and yes."

She nodded, seemingly satisfied for the moment. "Okay!" She smiled brightly at Mikoto. "Your mommy is pretty." She said to Itachi.

Itachi smiled for real. "I know."

Mikoto's eyes glistened, and she refilled the kohi. She didn't know what Itachi had learned about the girl, but if he didn't mention anything, neither would she.

Sakura reached for the kohi, but Itachi mock-slapped her hand away. "No. That's mine." He took it and drank it quickly, while the little girl watched.

When she was sure he wasn't going to give her any, she hopped down and padded into the kitchen to watch what Mikoto was doing, which was frying eggs for breakfast.

Itachi watched her carefully, wary for any sign that she might show of remembering. She seemed fine until Mikoto asked her which juice she would prefer. Her eyes widened. Her breathing rate increased. She began to shake uncontrollably. Itachi flew across the room to catch her falling form before she hit the ground.

"What happened?" Mikoto asked when Itachi stood, the girl in his arms.

Itachi looked grim. "Her parents were poisoned with an extremely rare toxin. They're dead."

Mikoto's hands flew to her mouth. "Oh, the poor darling."

Itachi nodded, and shifted slightly to balance the weight of Sakura's unconscious body. "We have reason to believe that she may have seen them. We think she ran, and that's when I found her. Right now she's our only witness of any kind."
