The room went dead still. Itachi stared at Sakura, barely managing to keep his emotions in check. Ibiki openly gaped at her, and the Hokage just sighed.

"And why would you do that?" Ibiki asked after a millennia.

Sakura tilted her head back to look at the ceiling. "Can I tell you a story?"

Ibiki's retort was cut off by the Hokage. "If you feel it will answer the question, then go ahead."

Sakura nodded and began to speak.

The couple was quiet coming home from the hospital, their baby girl wrapped in blankets slept peacefully.

"Why did it have to be a girl?" The mother moaned.

"Kami must be angry with us." The father replied, his stricken face turned to the sky.

"It would be better if she had been a still-born." The mother glared hatefully at her sleeping daughter. "She is the last thing we need."

The father clapped a hand to her mouth. "Not here." He hissed. "Wait until we're not out in the open."

The mother nodded, her eyes wide. "I'm sorry." She murmured when he removed his hand.

He nodded gruffly. "Let's just go home."

When Sakura was one, her father began to run experiments on her. He tried to enhance her speech. He tried to enhance her strength. He tried to make her have the abilities of a Jonin. He wanted to create a prodigy. Instead, he created a monster.

When Sakura was two, she had already killed three people. She hadn't known who they were, or cared. All she cared about was the thrill of killing, the euphoria that came off causing another's death. Her father realized what he'd done. He tried to stop her, kill her even. But she was better than even him.
