A summer night breeze blew through the window of Gabriella's bedroom. But this was not calming, in fact she was in the middle of a terrible nightmare.

Gabriella was running. She had blood running down her left arm as Jacob and Trey chased after her. They both had red hot fury in their eyes and looked evil. They were larger, hulking masses of muscle and mace. She ran and ran until she came to a dead end.

"You love him over me? But we we're meant to BE! WE WERE GOING TO SAVE THE WORLD!" Trey stared down at her, his jealousy rising in his voice.

"Gabriella you must choose him or me. I am kind and wise, you must love me!" Jacob screamed back. Together they yelled at her..."You must choose!" She cried, holding her hands up to her head. The ground began to rumble and out the window she saw fire raining down on the world and darkness closing her in.

Then, in Maura's cicada voice Gabriella heard,"You've failed." And the voice laughed maniacally until Gabriella woke up.

Gabriella bolted right up in bed, tears running down her face and a cold sweat on her back. She began to cry, sobs racking body until she was left breathless and tearless. Gabriella got to her feet shakily and walked over to the window.

"Oh mom. What am I going to do?" She stood there letting the moonlight rest on her, calming her growing fear.

What is this fear? This sheer terror?

Jacob sat up. Looking around he saw nothing but the moon out his window. He sat there, listening and waiting. Then an overwhelming sense of sadness washed over him. It was a feeling unlike any other, complete grief like all the happiness had gone from the world. For what seemed like hours, Jacob couldn't move. So affected by this emotion he himself began to feel depressed. Then it subsided, gradually but it left him feeling week and tired and confused.

That was the problem ,see, so strong were Gaby's emotions that she woke another and gave him her pain. Able to kill someone, eh? Not a shocker.

Jacob stood and began walking. it was like following a trail of remnants of a battle, the emotions left a trace and only he could see it. The icy white trail lead up the stairs, way up straight to Gabriella's room. Jacob gently pushed open the door and found her to be asleep on the window seat. She was shivering despite the warm air. Her face was streaked with tear tracks as Jacob looked at her.

Maybe I shouldn't move her. But as he debated, he saw her shiver and he stepped closer. As gently as possible he shrugged her into his arms and placed her back In her bed. He carefully tucked the blankets around her and kissed her forehead. At least she was no longer in such terror or sadness. As jacob made his way back to his bedroom, his thoughts became jumbled.

But what had caused those emotions? He laid down and thought until his eyes drooped with exhaustion and he fell into deep sleep.

Gabriella woke up to the sound of A knock on the door.

"Gaby,we have to get you ready for breakfast... then we'll be going into town." She heard Helena speak through the door.

"Come in," she said groggily. Helena walked in wearing her normal dress, and standing proud as ever. "you know you don't have to do this, you're the queen! I'm sure you have more important things to do."
