Trey's Days

To Gabriella it all happened in slow motion. Bagetha telling them about Earth not existing, about her mother and father, and that Trey was her brother. Gabriella swore something happened between the time she stopped hearing words and time went back to normal but she couldn't remember

"So you're telling me, that I was born in Colomaindia and my mother was a queen and my dad a servant and.... Trey is my brother?" She took the word, brother. She tried it out and it seemed very easy to apply to Trey. Gabriella was trying to focus on the fact she lived in a whole new world and that her parents, friends, and family didn't exist. It was also very hard to believe that her mother was a queen of where? Wicoing or some ancient city somewhere over the mountains. Trey's voice broke the silence around them.

"Brother? Heir? Who am I?" Trey's stormy blue eyes were raging trying to understand.

"I know this is hard to take in but-" Helena touched Trey's shoulder and he disappeared. Gaby could tell he was gone even before the front door's tiny bell dinged. Helena's shoulders sagged and she put her head in her hands.

"I can't believe I never knew." Gaby looked at her and realised it was nice to finally know why she never quite fit in. She believed everything that they told her even though it at first sounded crazy.

"So," Gaby sighed,"We were here to get outfits?" Helena nodded and stood."I think we were."

Jacob could feel the strong emotions headed right for him even before Trey barreled into him head on. Trey had troubled eyes when he stood up and rubbed his sore arm.

"Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going."

"No problem." Jacob starred at him for a moment, then turned to stand outside the merchant's door.

"Where are Gaby and her Majesty? "

"O-oh they're still at the tailor.. place."

"Oh. Then where were you off to?"

"I was... coming to see if you two were almost done. Seems like you aren't though." Jacob was so focussed on trying to sort out Trey's emotions that he didn't notice when Nicholai stepped out of the merchant's shop. It felt like Trey was drowning in his own emotions and had gotten Jacob caught up in them too.

"Jacob? Trey?" Nicholai looked between them not noticing the mental war waging with his two friends. Finally, Jacob got to the center of what was causing Trey's anguish. His eyes widened and Trey colapsed into Jacob's arms. Jacob didn't know what to do so he just let Trey cry on his shoulder.

WHAT IN WICOING IS GOING ON? Nicholai screamed into Jacob's mind. He flinched but then remembered that even those without talents can use telepathy.

He just found out that his home doesn't exist, he is the heir to Wicoing and Gaby is his sister. Give him a break.

The alarm, but understanding on Nicholai's face was very amusing though Jacob didn't think it was an appropriate time to laugh. What a strange day this was...

****************************

Gaby was flabbergasted at the new outfits she was presented with, Helena wasn't lying when she said Bagetha Birdshaw/Gablen was the best. The first one was the color of autumn leaves. The burnt oranges and golds and firey reds seemed to dance off of each other. It was again a tunic that was a little revealing but sill had sturdy sleeves. The pants were flowy so that when she stood normally it looked like a skirt. She had some stable hunting boots and pockets everywhere for concealing weapons. She had two more thay were the same style, one the color of the sky and the other emerald green. They were the most beautiful clothes Gabriella had ever seen and the ball gown was even more so. Somehow Helena had talked Gaby into getting a ball gown for the annual Summer Solstice Gala. It fit so closely to Gabriella's figure that she felt a little naked until it moved past her hips then it flowed outwards about six inches from her leg. The dress was a deep periwinkle with an iridescent strips that fell down the outside of the skirt. It really was a masterpiece of light and design and color and shape. Gaby really wanted to take it off though because one man had already walked in and passed out at the sight of her. Gabriella didn't know why but it was just very embarrassing to have people think she was so beautiful. Once Gabriella was out of her ball gown and back into her original outfit Helena paid and they left to find Jacob and Nicholai and hopefully,Trey. As the two women walked down the street towards the merchant's shop they became increasingly aware of how warm the summer sun was. Although the climate wasn't tropical in any way it seemed like the humidity and sun's heat combined to make it a sauna. Gabriella was just to about to ask for a break when they turned the corner and saw Trey, Jacob, and Nicholai leaning against the wall awkwardly. Trey looked in their direction and stood up straighter. He sort of wiped his nose on his sleeve as Gabriella noticed the tear tracks and redness of his eyes. She felt really bad but didn't know what to say. Then Jacob and Nicholai noticed their appearance and began walking.

"Come on let's go back to the castle and get out of this heat." All five of them (and the carriage driver whom I didn't include in any of the storyline)

walked back to where the carriage was stationed.

******************************

Sitting next to Trey on the carriage ride back to the castle was very awkward. Gabriella tried to start a conversation but it just died because she didn't know what to say. Instead she sent him a feeling, she sent him her worry and to her surprise the love she felt for him as a friend. She really was the only one who understood what he felt like. Trey turned to her and smiled, finally he felt well enough to look at her. She smiled kindly back at him and grabbed his hand. She was glad that he was accepting her empathy. The rest of the ride home was relaxed and Gabriella could focus on her feelings and whatever Jacob was trying to tell her from the other carriage .

That was a strange day.

Why?

Just, it was strange...

I agree, Jacob. It was weird for all of us.

Yeah, well at least I can sleep now. His emotions left as he fell asleep and the steady feeling of the wheels on the gravel lulled Gabriella to sleep.
